워케이션을 위한 레지던스 호텔 디자인에 관한 연구 : 포도호텔을 중심으로 = A Study on the Design of Residence Hotels for Workation : A Focus on Grape Hotel

국문 초록 (Abstract)

오늘날 기술의 발전으로 업무공간은 고정되지 않고 어디서든 원격으로 일하는 형태로 점차 진화하고 있다. 이에 업무와 휴식의 경계가 모호해지고 있으며, 워케이션이라는 새로운 업무 방식이 등장하였다. 이러한 업무 방식은 COVID-19와 MZ 세대의 등장으로 가속화되었다.
이러한 공간을 제공하기 위해서는 장․단기적으로 숙식이 가능한 레지던스 공간과 업무공간이 필요하다. 하지만 기존 레지던스 호텔들은 워케이션의 근무 환경 조건을 충족하기에 미흡하다.
이에 따라 본 논문은 워케이션을 위한 레지던스 호텔을 디자인하는 데 있다. 원격 근무자가 장․단기간 편안하게 삶을 유지하며 업무와 휴식을 경험할 수 있는 공간을 제안하는 것을 목표로 한다. 대상지는 휴양과 관광에 최적화되어 있는 제주도의 포도호텔로 선정하였다. 디자인 콘셉트는 포도호텔의 설계 의도에서 도출하였다. 주요 기능은 국내외 사례 조사를 통해 워케이션 공간의 특징과 프로그램을 분석하였다.
본 연구의 공간 디자인 콘셉트는 ‘열림과 닫힘 그리고 자연’으로 설정하였다. 이를 바탕으로 포도호텔의 리노베이션 설계안을 제안하였다. 업무의 생산성과 창의력을 높이기 위해 자연스러운 교류를 유도하는 공간을 설계하고, 자연과 계속해서 이어지는 구조로 일상의 휴식을 제공하였다.
본 연구를 통해 워케이션을 위한 업무공간이 반영된 레지던스 호텔의 설계안을 자연경관이 좋은 제주에 위치한 포도호텔에 접목하여 업무와 휴식을 동시에 경험하며 참여자들 간의 자연스러운 교류가 이어질 수 있는 공간 계획을 제안한다.

In today's technologically advanced world, workspaces are transforming from traditional, fixed locations to flexible, remote formats accessible from anywhere. This shift has led to a fusion of work and leisure, giving rise to the concept of "workation." The spread of COVID-19 and the rise of the Millennial and Generation Z have further propelled this trend.
To accommodate this evolving work style, there's a growing demand for both short-term and long-term accommodations that cater to workation needs. Traditional residence hotels, however, often lack the necessary amenities to support this hybrid work-leisure environment.
Addressing this gap, this paper proposes designing residence hotels specifically for workation purposes. The objective is to create spaces where remote workers can seamlessly blend their work and leisure activities, whether for brief stays or longer periods. The focus of this study is the Grape Hotel in Jeju, a location ideally suited for leisure and tourism. The design approach is inspired by the original vision behind the Grape Hotel.
This research identifies essential elements by examining domestic and international examples of workation spaces. The spatial design philosophy is articulated as a balance of 'openness, closure, and nature.' Under this framework, a renovation plan for the Grape Hotel is outlined. The proposed design enhances productivity and creativity by fostering natural interactions and daily relaxation, connecting the structure with the natural surroundings.
The result is a comprehensive design for a residence hotel that integrates workspaces suitable for workation, harmonizing with the scenic backdrop of Jeju's Grape Hotel. This concept aims to craft a venue where individuals can engage in both professional tasks and relaxation, promoting organic interactions among its users.
