스마트폰 애플리케이션 UI 개선에 관한 연구 : 대학 정보시스템을 중심으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

최근 스마트폰 시장이 급성장률을 보이면서 온라인 애플리케이션 스토어를 통한 다양한 모바일 애플리케이션의 활용이 증가하고 있다. 이러한 스마트폰 애플리케이션이 학내정보는 물론 학사행정도 연동되어 대학생활에도 활용되고 있다. 특히 교내에는 무선 인터넷 환경이 뛰어나기 때문에 자유롭게 접속해 실시간 다양한 정보를 얻을 수 있다. 도서관 빈자리를 확인하고 각종 학내행사와 학생식당 메뉴를 조회하는 등 대학생들의 일상생활의 패턴이 바뀌고 있다.
현재 많은 대학들이 관련 애플리케이션을 꾸준히 개발하고 있고 애플리케이션 스토어에 등록되어 있다. 우리는 이로 인해 한층 발전되고 지능적인 모바일 시대에 살고 있는데 이 대학 정보 서비스 애플리케이션에 어떤 UI가 적합한지에 대해 조사하고 문제점을 파악하고자 기존의 애플리케이션 스토어에 등록되어 있는 숭실대, 인하대, 한양대학교의 애플리케이션을 조사하고 설문조사를 실시했다.
UI의 편의성, 디자인, 기능 측면에서 각 UI의 장단점을 분석하고 기타의견을 통해 대학 정보 서비스 애플리케이션 UI에 대한 핵심요소를 이끌어 낼 수 있었다. 그 핵심요소는 다음 네 가지로 요약할 수 있다.
첫째, 메뉴의 이동과 즐겨 찾는 메뉴의 바로가기 등의 효율적인 UI
둘째, 지역기반 서비스를 위한 UI
셋째, 소셜 네트워크 서비스를 위한 UI
넷째, ‘감성 UI’ 적용 및 UI 개인화
분석한 내용을 기반으로 단국대학교 정보 서비스 애플리케이션 UI를 제안하였고, 기존 대학 정보 서비스 애플리케이션과는 차별화된 메뉴를 설계한 단국대학교 애플리케이션의 UI는 학생들의 캠퍼스 생활의 편의를 돕고 학교 Name Value를 상승시키는 요인이 된다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Recently, smartphones such as apple's iphone, google's android phone, and Microsoft's window mobile 7 phone gain a prominent popularity in mobile phone markets. The popularity also gives a new opportunity of smartphone applications, which are uploaded and downloaded actively on the popular online application store (a.k.a AppStores). In particular, lots of universities provide a plenty wireless network on the campus, which enables students to access useful information including school news, cafeteria menu, library condition, and administrative information from the smartphones on real time.

In this paper, we have a question about what is the appropriate UI(User Interface) of smartphone applications, especially for university information service applications. To address the question, we first survey the existing three applications, Soongsil, Inha, and Hanyang university information service applications. Then, we conduct an opinion poll about the UI of the applications and analyze the strength and weakness of each application in terms of UI convenience, design, and functionality.

From the analysis, we can draw out the key factors about UI of smartphone applications for university information service. They can be summarized as the following four: UI effectiveness of menu change and shortcut for frequently-used menu, UI flexibility for location based service, UI extensibility for social network service, and UI sensibility and personalization. Finally, we design a new Dankook university smartphone application that provides distinct UI based on the four factors.
