도시재생전략으로서 근대산업 유휴공간을 활용한 컨버전스 디자인에 관한 연구 = (A) Study on convergence design idle spaces of modern industries as a urban regeneration strategy

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 도시재생의 개선방안에 대한 일환으로 근대산업 유휴공간을 활용한 컨버전스 디자인이 가져야 할 의미를 되새기고 보존에 의존한 디자인을 탈피하기 위해 방향성을 도출하고자 한 연구이다. 급격한 도시성장으로 인한 산업이동, 신도시 개발에 따른 구도심 쇠퇴, 인구도심 집중과 산업화에 따른 환경문제 악화 등이 사회문제로 떠올랐다. 이러한 현상으로 인해 도시들은 도시정체성을 강화하고 매력적인 이미지를 창출하기 위해 도시재생에 대한 개발정책을 시도하고 있으며 새로운 패러다임을 모색하고 있다. 도시재생의 구축은 전 세계적으로 국가 전체와 각 도시의 관광객증가는 물론이고, 도시에서 생산하는 제품과 서비스 등의 호의 도를 증가시켜 실제적인 경제적 이익을 야기 시킨다. 이에 따른 도시들은 도시이미지 가치향상을 위하여 각종 재개발이 이루어지고 있지만 지속적인 상황을 고려하지 않고 일정 구역 내의 문제만을 단기간으로 해결하려는 움직임을 보여주고 있다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위한 방안으로, 도시 곳곳에 남아있는 근대산업유산을 활용해 그 가치를 재조명하고 유휴 화된 공간에 새로운 생명력을 부여하고자 하는 변화가 보여 지고 있다. 근대산업 유휴공간은 지역의 경제적, 사회적으로 중요한 역할을 담당해 오면서 역사적, 문화적 가치가 잠재되어 다각적인 측면에서 바라볼 필요가 있다.
따라서 본 연구에서는 도시재생전략으로서 근대산업 유휴공간을 활용한 컨버전스 디자인에 대해서 고찰하였다. 이를 통해 사회적 측면에서 재생의 유형을 파악할 수 있었고 컨버전스 디자인의 공간적 재생특성을 도출하였다. 뿐만 아니라 도시재생으로 성공을 이룬 해외 선진사례를 조사 및 분석하여 이를 통해 컨버전스 디자인을 적용한 문화공간 제안 하였다. 이처럼 컨버전스 디자인 활용방안은 지역 정체성과, 문화적, 경제적 활성화 측면에서도 중요한 요소인 것으로 파악되었다. 이와 같이 근대산업 유휴공간을 활용한 컨버전스 디자인에 대한 연구는 향후 도시재생을 전략으로 활용되어 효율적인 공간으로 변모시켜나갈 것이다. 나아가 도시이미지 가치향상을 위해 사회적 전반에 걸쳐 다양하게 활용 될 수 있는 자료가 될 것으로 예상된다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to remind us of the meaning that convergence design idle spaces of modern industries should have and to draw a direction for moving away from the design relying on preservation, as a method of improvement for urban regeneration. The social issues, such as industrial migration due to rapid urban growth, decay of old downtown areas due to new city development and aggravation of environmental problem due to urban concentration of population and industrialization, have emerged. In this situation, each city tries development policies for urban regeneration and also seeks for a new paradigm to strengthen identity of the city and to create attractive images.
The establishment of urban regeneration creates practical economic benefits by increasing good impression on the products and services produced in a city as well as increasing the number of tourists to a country and to a city. Therefore, every city pushes forward a variety of redevelopment projects to increase the city image value. The cities, however, tend to try to solve problems in a short time, not considering persisting conditions. As a way to solve this problem, some change is shown to shed new light on the value of the modern industrial heritages, which remain everywhere throughout cities, and to give new life to the idle space of them. We need to look at the idle spaces of modern industries from various point of views as they have potential values historically and culturally, playing important roles in local economy and society.
Thus, in this study, we considered convergence design idle spaces of modern industries as a urban regeneration strategy. By way of the study, we could identify the types of regeneration from social aspect and drew spacial regeneration characteristics of convergence design. In addition, we suggested cultural spaces adopting convergence design by surveying and analyzing overseas advanced cases that has succeeded in urban regeneration. Like this, the way of utilizing convergence design is found to be an important factor in local identity and cultural and economic vitalizations. The study on convergence design idle spaces of modern industries would help change the spaces into efficient areas, being used as a urban regeneration strategy in the future. Furthermore, we expect that the data can be used in a variety of areas of the society for increasing city image value.
