대안교육을 선택한 부모의 진로신념에 관한 내러티브 연구 = A Narrative Inquiry of Parents's Career Beliefs on Alternative Education

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 대안교육을 선택한 부모의 진로신념을 통해 교육적 관점의 변화를 꿈꾸는 부모들의 가치관을 인식함으로서 자녀교육에 대한 주체적인 교육신념을 가지고 일반적으로는 선택하기 어려운 교육방법을 선택한 부모들의 이야기를 바탕으로 대안교육에 대한 이해를 넓히고자 수행되었다.
본 연구를 위해 다음과 같은 두 가지의 연구 문제를 설정하였다. 첫째, 대안교육을 선택한 부모의 동기는 무엇인가? 둘째, 대안교육을 선택한 부모의 진로신념은 무엇인가? 연구의 진행을 위해 19년차 공무원과 미대출신 전업주부, 고학력 취업 어머니로 여성 3인을 택하여 내러티브 탐구 경로에 따라 연구에 참여한 부모들의 진로신념의 의미를 탐구하였다. 참가자들의 학업과정과 진로신념에 대한 네 개의 영역으로 도출하였으며, 이를 토대로 연구 본문을 생성하였다. 본 연구에서 도출된 네 개의 영역은 어린 시절부터 현재까지의 인생이야기로 성장기 학업과정, 진로신념, 대안교육 선택의 경험이다. 연구자와 연구 참여자는 <공부의 의미>, <간절함>, <교육의 본질>로 정리하였다.
이러한 경험의 의미를 바탕으로 과거부터 현재까지 우리나라 공교육의 학습문화와 교육방법이 자녀세대에서는 달라져야 한다는 의식에서 연구의 결과를 논의하였다. 첫째, 경험학습을 통하여 스스로 배움의 의미와 삶의 의미를 깨닫고 그 의미를 실현하고자 노력하는 과정을 경험할 때 자신들의 삶이 어떠할지라도 역경을 극복하고 혹여 실패하더라도 그 실패가 성장의 원동력임을 받아들이는 자세가 중요하다고 하였다. 둘째, 자율성과 관계성이 부여된 공부로 자신의 꿈과 가능성을 탐색하게 하여 세상에 대해 생각하고 끊임없이 도전하며 이를 느낄 수 있는 기회와 여유를 제공해야 한다고 하였다. 셋째, 백인백색으로 독립적인 존재로 태어나 각자의 타고난 소질과 재능을 발휘하고 창조성과 도전정신을 발현시킬 수 있도록 사회와 교육시스템이 지원해야 한다고 하였다.
이와 같은 연구결과의 마무리는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 대안교육을 선택한 부모의 동기는 교실에서의 지식보다 세상에서의 삶과 교사와 학생간의 수평적 인간관계, 아이들의 내면적 성장을 도와주는 조력자로 보았다. 아이들의 개성을 존중하는 태도를 높이 평가한 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 대안교육을 선택한 부모의 진로신념은 부모시대와 같이 획일적인 학습방법으로 입시를 위해 달리는 경주마가 아닌 스스로를 단련하고 세상을 무대로 도전하며 자아가 성장하는 과정을 몸소 체득하기를 바라는 것으로 나타났다. 인생은 속도보다 방향이 중요하다는 것을 깨우치고 내 삶을 위해 달리는 야생마로 성장하기를 기대하는 것으로 나타났다. 이제부터 교육의 본질을 놓치는 우(愚)를 범하지 말고 아이들이 미래사회에서 자기 운명의 주인으로 살아갈 수 있도록 도와야 한다는 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to recognize the values of parents who dream of changing their educational views through the concept of career of parents who chose alternative education, and to carry out an understanding of alternative education methods that are generally difficult to select.
Two research problems have been established for this study: First, what is the motivation of parents who choose alternative education? Second, what are the beliefs of parents who choose alternative education? In order to proceed with the research, we selected three women as civil servants, stay-at-home moms and high-education working mothers in 19 years to explore the meaning of career beliefs of parents who participated in the study. The four areas of study and career belief were derived from the participants and the research texts were created based on them. The four areas derived from this study are the life story from childhood to present and experience in growing up, career beliefs and choice of alternative education. Researchers and participants in the study described the meaning of study, the simplicity, and the nature of education.
Based on the meaning of these experiences, the results of the study were discussed in the consciousness that the learning culture and methods of public education in Korea should be changed in children from the past to the present. First, when experiencing the process of realizing the meaning of learning and trying to realize the meaning of life through experience learning, he said, "It is important to accept that failure is the driving force of growth no matter how hard their lives are. Second, we should explore our dreams and possibilities through study that is related to autonomy, so that we can think about the world, challenge it constantly, and provide opportunities and freedom to feel it." Third, society and education system should be supported so that they can be born as independent white people, display their natural qualities and talents, and develop creativity and challenging spirit.
The results of these studies are as follows: First, parents who chose alternative education saw their parents' motivation as a facilitator of life in the world, horizontal relationships between teachers and students, and their inner growth. He praised the attitude of respecting children's individuality. Second, parents who chose alternative education found that they wanted to train themselves, challenge the world, and learn how to grow up with a uniform learning method like their parents. It turns out that I expect to realize that direction is more important than speed and to grow into a wild horse running for my life. They say that the government should help children live as masters of their own destiny in a future society instead of committing a crime that misses the essence of education.
