A Study on the Competitive Factors of
Outlet Store

This study aims to investigate successful competitive factors of outlet stores through theoretical and empirical research. Competitive factors of outlet stores found through the literature review and theoretical studies.
The findings of theoretical research show that the success of outlet stores is significantly related to public transportations, parking conveniences, nearby tour facilities, number of tenant stores, food court and entertainment stores, various brands, refund and returning system, store atmosphere, kind manners, and promotion strategy.
Competitive factors are also related to customer characteristics such as demographic variables, buying pattern, and discount store usage rate.
Empirical research finds the followings. The main competitive factors of discount store are ①kind manners ②various brands ③refund returning system ④store atmosphere at Korean local outlet. Consumers are mainly composed of young female, middle class group and fashion-oriented woman.
