This is an experimental study to look into the effectiveness of multimedia-assisted teaching in the communicative language class. The participants were 14 pre-school students. The subjects were pre-school students and two similar classes were selected. For twelve-week long experimentation was conducted to examine significant differences among learners. The experimental group was given multimedia-assisted language teaching: To do listening activities from the Internet, to read fairy tale for children through the Internet, to talk about their own idea after the multimedia-assisted lesson, to sing a song together, and to write about the lesson from the Internet.
This study as an action research and test result tries to utilize an English education program through the multimedia for beginning young learners. This research studied the improvement of effective of the young learners' English studying, the development of activities for focusing learners' concentration on the program, and communicative language skill through the multimedia-assisted lesson.
Results of this study indicated that there was a significant difference on the score of PELT Jr. test between the two groups. The experimental group showed much higher scores than the control group on the test. The experimental group also showed more positive attitude and more interest about English learning.
According to the results that the multimedia-assisted language teaching might be effective for the development of young learners' communicative competence. This results also indicated that the majority of young learners have positive attitudes towards the use of the multimedia.
