This study is about paid viewing factors for pop (popular) music performances. The purpose of the project is to analyze the relationship between the characteristics of performance viewing and online music service use, and to derive the importance between the difference in importance-performance and purchasing factors through IPA techniques. The characteristics and performance of the audience's choice of pop music performances were investigated to identify effective planning and marketing strategy factors for pop music performances. Through this, basic data for the future development of pop music performances were produced and suggested.
For the precise development of the research, the prior research on pop music, performance selection factors, and IPA analysis was reviewed extensively until recently, and the theoretical background of this research was established based on the product characteristics of pop music performances and the current status of pop music industry and user trends. The survey was then conducted for empirical analysis, and the conditions of the survey were limited to 350 people who had paid purchase experience for watching pop music performances over the past year. As a result, four characteristics were found:
First, as a result of examining the importance and performance of paid viewing factors according to the characteristics of watching pop music performances, 7-9 times of annual watching pop music performances were the highest in importance. In addition, the price factor were highly important among paid purchase options for groups that watch 7-9 times a year.
Second, as a result of the difference in the usage characteristics of online music services, groups with less than 10 years of platform use tend to place more emphasis on price conditions than groups with more than 10 years of platform use. Depending on the music service method used mainly, the importance of the work was higher in the group using streaming services than in the group using download services.
Third, the analysis of the difference in the importance-performance of the paid viewing factors for pop music performances showed that both the importance and performance of the 'product factors' were concentrated on the artist's music, and that the importance and performance of the 'price factors' were ticket prices. The importance of the "place factor" was found to be the facilities of the concert hall, and the performance level was the size and seat of the concert hall. The importance of 'promotion factors' was Internet information (SNS, bookings), and performance (SNS, bookings) were found to be Internet information (SNS, bookings). The importance and performance level of the "performance officials" were found to be the favorability and reliability of the artists. The importance of 'physical environment factors' was found to be parking facilities and performance levels were the size and space of the concert hall. The importance of the "process factor" was the smooth progress of the performance (guidance for entry and exit), and the performance level was the information about the performance schedule.
Fourth, as a result of the analysis of IPA lattices of marketing 7P factors for the selection of paid viewing factors for pop music performances, the factors of production are the first quadrant (maintenance), performance personnel (peakable) and venue (place) are the factors of the second quadrant (focusing), promotion (probing), physical environment factors, price factors are shown to be third quadrants (low priority), and process factors are fourth quadrants (excess).
The analysis of the size of the pop music performance market derived through the above process, the trend of users in the music industry, the status of paid viewing of music performances, and the use of online music services can be used as basic data for the expansion of the pop music industry's service market. In particular, the analysis results of paid viewing factors for pop music performances are the basic data needed to identify the purchase channel of visitors. And it will be useful for establishing a channel marketing plan.
