Belt Conveyor, one of transportation devices, has a simple structure, consumes a little power, and has less trouble compared to its high transportation efficiency. Therefore, it has a high reliability. Since the repairing is rather easy, belt conveyor is widely used in producing factories, automation line, and others.
Our research is about design and drawing standard applied to designing industrial belt conveyor, which is used to transport industrial facilities such as steel (industrial plant), minerals, sands, cements and others (general plant). Since the standards of belt conveyor are different in many manufacture factories, we investigated data to help understanding general things about conveyor. The research was done for increasing the efficiency of facility design by setting a paradigm from investigating and analyzing data. Here is the summary.
1. Properties of materials transported by belt conveyor were, particle size: 0.25 ~ 250mm apparent density: 0.48 ~ 2.4t/㎥, angle of repose: 25 ~ 44°, and critical angle of overturning: 10 ~ 25°.
2. Considering the type of materials, the properties were, particle size: 0 ~ 250mm, belt width: 400 ~ 2200mm, and belt speed: 50 ~ 270m/min.
3. Classification of take-up device is done by applying modulus of elasticity and permanent elongation. When the length of belt conveyor is less than 30m, a Screw Type is used, and the length limit was set because of the deformation of screw in the lengh-direction. Another type of the belt conveyor, the Counterweight Type, has a larger take-up device compared to its frame, which was turned out to be inefficient and uneconomical.
4. In the case of Trestle, it is possible to design multi-stage for the belts whose width range from BW400 to BW2200. The number of stage becomes smaller as the width of belt gets larger.
5. The driving machinery power of power requirement part is in the range of when the machine is unloaded, and when loaded.
