Despite the fact that various environmentally friendly processes have been developed through the implementation of policies that strengthen environmental regulations, to date, most textile material manufacturers in domestic still apply solvent-type adhesives in the manufacturing process of synthetic leather. However, due to the growing awareness of dangerous substances and the growing demand for environmentally-friendly products due to regulations by major overseas companies, water-based adhesives are being replaced. In the case of water-based adhesives for textile materials currently on the market in domestic, the initial adhesion to fabrics is low. Therefore, in this study, in order to develop initial adhesion and sufficient adhesion, poly (tetramethylene ether) glycol (PTMG), hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI) and 2,2-bis (hydroxymethyl) propionic acid (DMPA) are used as the basis, waterborne polyurethane for automobile interior fibers was synthesized by applying different chain length of chain extender. The synthesis of waterborne polyurethane was confirmed through FT-IR, and the initial adhesion and adhesion strength changes were studied by evaluating adhesion by producing adhesive specimen using the synthesized adhesive. As a result, the longer the length of the chain when a diol-based chain extender is used, the better the initial adhesion, and the highest initial adhesive strength when the chain is extended with 1,10-decanediol (WPU-D3) is 2.7 kgf / inch. When synthesized based on an amine-based chain extender, initial adhesion tended to decrease as the length of the chain extender increased. As a water-based adhesive for fiber materials, it is advantageous to secure the initial adhesive strength by using a diol chain extension agent rather than an amine chain extension agent.
