부부갈등이 자녀의 부적응에 미치는 영향: 자아탄력성, 사회적 지지, 부모 양육태도를 중심으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구에서는 부부갈등이 어떤 경로를 통해 자녀의 부적응 행동에 영향을 주는지 살펴보고자 하였다. 부부갈등이 자녀의 부적응 행동에 미치는 영향에 관한 선행 연구들을 검토한 결과 부부갈등은 자아탄력성, 부모 양육태도, 사회적 지지 등을 매개로 자녀의 부적응 행동에 영향을 미칠 것이라는 이론적 모델을 설정하였다. 또한 이들 매개변인들이 어떤 기제를 통해서 매개 역할을 하는지를 확인하기 위해 자아탄력성의 역할을 중심으로 이들 매개변인들 간의 관계를 살펴보았다.
먼저, 부부갈등과 자녀의 부적응 행동 간에 자아탄력성, 부모 양육태도, 사회적 지지가 매개역할을 하는지를 두 가지 매개 모델을 설정하여 구조방정식 모델을 통해 확인하였다. 모델1은 매개변인들이 병렬적으로 매개 역할을 하는 개별 매개모델이며, 모델2는 자아탄력성이 부모 양육태도, 사회적 지지와 부적응 행동 사이를 매개할 것으로 가정한 자아탄력성 매개모델이다. 495명의 중학생들(남자; 296명, 여자; 199명)을 대상으로 두 모델의 적합도를 분석한 결과, 두 모델 모두 통계적으로 수용할 만한 적합도를 보여 본 연구에서 설정한 매개변인들이 매개효과를 보이는 것이 확인되었고 모델 간 비교 검증을 통해 자아탄력성 매개모델이 개별 매개모델 보다 더 좋은 적합도를 보임을 확인하였다. 구체적인 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 1) 부부갈등은 자녀의 부적응 행동에 직접적인 경로가 아닌 간접적인 경로로 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 2) 부부갈등은 자아탄력성, 부모 양육태도, 사회적 지지에 각각 영향을 미쳤다. 3) 자아탄력성은 부모 양육태도와 부적응 행동 사이에서 부분 매개 역할을 하였다. 4) 자아탄력성은 사회적 지지와 부적응 행동 사이에서 완전 매개 역할을 하였다.
본 연구에서는 부부갈등과 자녀의 부적응 행동 사이의 매개변인들을 확인하였고 이들 매개변인들에서 자아탄력성이 중심 매개 역할을 함을 발견하였다는데 의미가 있다. 본 연구의 이러한 결과는 부부갈등이 있는 자녀들의 적응을 돕기 위해서는 자아탄력성에 중점을 둔 개입이 효과적임을 시사해준다.

Abstract

The Influence of Marital Conflict on Children's Maladaptation : Focusing on Ego-resiliency, Parent's child-rearing attitudes and Social Support

The previous studies have studied that ego-resiliency, parent's child-rearing attitudes and social support separately had mediating effects between marital conflict and children's maladaptation. But few have examined mechanism underlying the link between marital conflict and children's maladaptation. This study investigated mechanism of mediating variables with particularly emphasizing on the buffering effect of ego-resiliency.
To investigate the mediating effects, two theoretical models were developed. In model 1, all mediating variables were assumed to have mediating effects in the same level, but in model 2, ego-resiliency was assumed to have mediating effect between parent's child-rearing attitudes, social support and maladaptation. 495 middle school students(male; 296, female; 199) responded to a set of questionnaires. This study was applied the structural equation modeling to the present data and found two models are both statistically suitable. But, model 2 was fitter than model 1.
The major findings were as follows;
First, marital conflict had no significant influence on children's maladaptation.
Second, marital conflict had significant influence on ego-resiliency, parent's child-rearing attitudes and social support.
Third, ego-resiliency partially mediated between parent's child-rearing attitudes and maladaptation.
Fourth, ego-resiliency fully mediated between social support and maladaptation.
This result implies that ego-resiliency may buffer the negative effects from marital conflict. Thus we should need effective counselings focusing on ego-resiliency.
