    The problem of sooty smoke, fine particles and dust, including class 1 carcinogens, generated from diesel vehicles at bus stops used by the majority of people is a serious situation. So it is necessary for citizens to secure a safe and comfortable space while waiting for the bus. In this study, the installation status of Smart Clean Bus Shelter(SCBS) with the function of reducing fine dust at bus stops for citizens, and studied efficient utilization methods by verifying the effectiveness through analysis of various statistical data.

    The results was obtained by comparing and analyzing data on air pollution information provided by the Korea Environment Corporation by securing data of SCBS that have been installed and operated in Hyang-dong, Goyang and Godeok districts in Pyeongtaek.

    The effectiveness and efficient use of the fine dust reduction functional device was tested. The results proved that fine dust was effectively reduced with SCBS. Furthermore, the maintenance cost was calculated, and a survey was conducted for bus stop users. In addition, an efficient use of SCBS was studied.

    The results indicated that it is necessary to spread fine dust reduction devices such as SCBSs, not limited to bus stops. When those devices can be installed in industrial complexes, construction sites, etc. with severe air pollution, it is expected to contribute to the improvement of citizens' health.
