As the world is turning to new millenium, the whole society in all aspects of politics, society, economy and culture is standing in a great turning point. At present time there are so many things to be correct, but this study is going to focus on curriculums of 10 music education graduate school located in Seoul, in comparison with the 7th educational course, investigating what kinds of problems they have and finding out solutions, so as to establish more improved model of music education curriculums.
As such the specialized graduate school which strengthens a professional education, the graduate school of education has charge of the present office teacher's reeducation, and continuing education, at once, plays an very important role as endowment of master's degree in pedagogy inception process. It is very meaningful to investigate the curriculum of graduate school of music education, because it is the origin of all music curriculum.
In this study, laying stress on the present course of music education in the ten graduate schools of education in Seoul, that is, Seoul National University, Yeonsei University, Ihwa women's University, Kyunghee University, Kunkook University, Hanyang University, Sookmyung women's University, Seongshin women's University, Sangmyung University, Kookmin University, the curriculum in music education major has been compared and investigated. And after that I came up with desirable curriculum, composed of understanding perspective and action perspective, in comparison with the 7th educational course.
In the part of introduction, I suggested the necessity, goal, method, contents, scope and limitation of study. In main part, focusing on ten universities located in Seoul, I examined the 7th educational course and objective, purpose, goal of graduate school of educations. And I pointed out problems after I compared and investigated curriculums of music education major divided into necessary course, non-necessary course, and composite investigation. Finally, I suggested a right direction for music education curriculum to take. For a conclusion, summery of study and my opinion about the necessity or followed study are described.
As the result, there is the difference between the present curriculum in the graduate school of education and the present national curriculum. In consideration of such object of the graduate school as training of music teachers and reeducation of present office teachers, the curriculum in the graduate school of education should be reorganized in the close connection with the primary·secondary school.
As the part which should be reformed first, I point out that courses for Korean national classical music has run short in comparison with west music. For the systematic and liberal education, the courses for Korean national classical music should be opened actively, and the graduate school of education itself should effort for the improvement and estimation on the course of study bias with balance.
In this dissertation, because the research is conducted focused on ten graduate schools of education in Seoul, we need to generalize this study after we investigate curriculums of more various university. As well as, comparative investigation of curriculum of graduate school of education's music education major with curriculum of elementary and secondary school, and with same course of foreign universities are needed. By the mediumism of such a research, to goals, that is, the establishment of the good model of music education course and the well-balanced development of music education, will be reached.
