The purpose of this study was to investigate the affect of elite track and field athletes’ perception of spike shoe purchase decision factors on their purchase satisfaction and purchase behavior. After selecting high school, college and general adult athletes registered with Korea Association of Athletics Federations as the population for this study, sample was extracted using convenience sampling. A questionnaire was used as the research instrument to accomplish the aim of this study. A draft questionnaire was prepared based on existing studies and the main survey was finalized after conducting a preliminary survey. To achieve the aim of this study, descriptive statistical analysis, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffe post-hoc test, simple regression analysis, and multiple regression analysis were performed. The research results are as follows:
First, spike purchase determinants differed in part depending on demographic characteristics.
Second, spike purchase satisfaction and purchase behavior differed in part depending on demographic characteristics.
Third, purchase satisfaction is affected by spike shoes' functionality, design, price, and promotion and not by distinctiveness among the purchase decision factors.
Fourth, repurchase intention is affected by functionality and promotion among the purchase decision factors.
Fifth, recommendation intention is affected by functionality, design, and promotion among the purchase decision factors.
Sixth, repurchase intention and recommendation intention are affected by purchase satisfaction.
In conclusion, this study confirmed the influence of elite athletes’ spikes purchase determinants on purchase satisfaction and purchase behavior. This study is meaningful in that it provides basic data that are helpful for the development of domestic athletics industry and for establishing corporate marketing strategies.
