스트라이프 패턴을 활용한 니트드레스 디자인 연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

현대를 살아가는 인간에게 개성표현은 필요불가결한 자아의 표현이라고 할 수 있다. 패션을 통하여 우리는 내적 감정의 개성표현을 가장 많이 표현할 수 있다. 현대 패션 경향에서 개성적 표현 욕구가 커지면서 표현 방법에도 독창적이고 창의적인 디자인 요소가 다양하게 요구되고 있다.
급속하게 첨단화 되어 가는 현대 사회에서 인간의 의복에 대한 이미지 표현은 과거의 복고적 요소와 첨단적 요소가 공존하고 있다. 다양한 패션 아이템들이 부각되면서 최근에는 니트웨어에도 독창적인 패션 니트웨어가 새롭게 주목되어 패션의 한 영역에서 개성의 표현수단으로 선택 되어지고 있다. 이와 같이 니트웨어에 대한 관심이 감각적인 패션 니트로 확대됨에 따라 그동안 등한시하였던 니트디자인 개발이 다각도에서 연구되고 있다.
최근 니트 산업체에는 첨단 컴퓨터 자동 횡편기 출현에 의해 다양한 니트 조직을 응용한 디자인 전개가 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 또한 원 스톱 작업형인 무봉제 니트 편직기가 도입되면서 가공 공정을 단순히 하거나 가공 공정이 전혀 필요치 않은 무봉제 니트웨어가 상품화 되는 등, 고 부가가치의 제품이 개발 되어지고 있다. 이러한 무봉제 니트웨어는 디자인 구현에 있어 조직이나 패턴의 전개 과정에서 특이성과 공통성을 갖게 된다.
본 연구는 무봉제 니트웨어를 제작하는 원리와 특징에 착안하여 니트의 기본이 되는 메리야스 조직으로 편직하고, 부분 니팅이 가능한 되돌아뜨기 기법을 응용하여 인체의 실루엣 위에 다양한 스트라이프 패턴을 전개시켜 표현하는 방법으로 새로운 니트 드레스를 창작하는데 그 목적이 있다.
본 연구내용은 첫째, 이론적 배경으로 니트의 개념과 특성을 알아보고 니트의 기본 조직의 편성 원리를 분석하고 니트의 다양한 조직을 살펴보았다. 그리고 스트라이프 패턴 전개에 필요한 디자인의 구성원리와 특징에 대하여 분석하고 정리하였다. 둘째, 현대 패션에 나타난 스트라이프 패턴에 대하여 살펴보고, 셋째, 이상의 이론적 배경과 현대 패션의 스트라이프 패턴 사례연구의 결과를 토대로 스트라이프 패턴을 이용한 니트드레스 8점을 제작하였다.
연구방법으로는 이론적인 접근으로 패션 관련 서적 및 논문과 인터넷 자료, 패션 정기 간행물을 토대로 조사하고 사진 자료를 수집, 분석하였다.
작품 제작 방법으로는 수편기를 사용하여 메리야스 조직으로 니팅하였는데 스트라이프를 강조할 수 있는 안뜨기 조직을 표면으로 선택하였다. 니팅 기법으로는 되돌아뜨기 기법을 사용하여 코의 증감을 조절하였으며, 하나의 작품이 완성되는데 불필요한 봉제선을 없애면서 가능한 무봉제 완성형의 제작기법을 선택하였다.
작품 아이템은 선의 표현이나 연장성을 고려하여 니트드레스를 선택하여 인체에 조화롭게 스트라이프를 배치시키고 바탕색은 검정 색을 사용하고 패턴이 되는 스트라이프는 백색을 사용하였다.
작품의 소재로는 나일론 테이프, 면 놋트 얀(cotton knot yarn), 면 슬러브 얀(cotton slub yarn), 면 실크사, 모헤어, 면과 종이 테이프, 셔닐 얀(chenille yarn), 앙고라 얀, 탐탐 얀(tamtam yarn), 은사, 금사, 금 벽사(gold corkscrew yarn) 등 특수사를 사용하였다. 작품제작시 니트의 드레이프성을 나타내면서 형태를 고정시키는 방법으로 상이한 특성의 실이 강조되는 스트라이프 선으로 사용하였으며, 작품제작 상황에 따라 형태를 강조하는 특수 소재를 삽입하기도 하였다
본 연구의 결론은 다음과 같다.
첫째, 디자인 요소에서 찾을 수 있는 무한한 선의 형태와 인체의 선은 사선과 곡선, 또는 어떠한 선과의 만남도 자연스럽게 수용할 수 있음을 알게 되었다. 다양한 스트라이프 패턴을 인체의 관능적인 굴곡에 따라 재배치하여 작품에 표현하므로써 스트라이프 패턴은 현대 디자인 경향을 반영한 창작적 다양한 표현 가능성을 제시할 수 있었다.
둘째, 니트의 소재는 드레이프성이 강하여 니트웨어에서 나타나는 형태 불안정 요소를 결점으로 인식하는 것이 일반적인 견해이다. 그러나 본 연구에서는 소재의 선택에 있어서 드레이프성이 강한 원사와 그렇지 않은 원사를 적절히 배합시켜 사용함으로써 벨 세이프 실루엣과의 절충적 형태를 제작할 수 있었다. 이 드레이프성을 니트웨어 디자인에 응용하여 다양한 실루엣에 유용한 선을 창작할 수 있는 가능성을 제시할 수 있었다.
셋째, 니트드레스의 소재선택에서 원단의 질감에 충실하기 위해 다양하게 사용되지 않는 팬시 얀을 사용하였다. 또한 복잡한 여러 조직 대신에 니트의 기본 조직인 메리야스 조직을 이용한 결과, 특이한 팬시 얀의 특성에 맞게 원사를 이용하므로써 복잡한 니트 조직을 사용하지 않아도 니트웨어에서 디자인을 창작함에 원사가 갖는 중요성과 가치를 재인식 할 수 있었다.
넷째, 본 연구 작품에서 되돌아뜨기 기법 응용은 니팅에 있어 자유로운 치수 증감에 기본적으로 많이 사용되는 기법으로, 첨단 편직기에서 생산될 수 있는 무봉제 니트웨어 제작에도 최적합 기법이라 할 수 있다.
다섯째, 무봉제 니트웨어를 제작하기 위하여 스트라이프 패턴의 구도는 증감이 되는 치수를 예측하고 니팅되는 방향에 맞추어 시작선과 끝선을 배치하여 작품 제작의 전 과정이 원 스톱 라인으로 마무리 될 수 있도록 하였다. 니팅이 진행되는 전 과정을 미리 예측하고 제작에 임하므로 가장 유용하고 합리적인 선을 도출해 낼 수 있었다.
이상과 같이 스트라이프 패턴을 이용한 독특하고 창의적인 무봉제 니트웨어를 디자인하여 제작하므로 니트웨어의 일반적인 관념을 깨고 다양한 용도의 예술성과 실용성을 겸한 실루엣의 니트웨어 디자인 창작 가능성을 제시할 수 있었다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

To the people living in the modern era, expression of individuality can be called the expression of oneself that is essential. Through fashion, we can express the most the individuality of our inner feelings. As the desire to express individual expression in modern fashion trend grew, different ways of individual and creative design factors are demanded.
In the modern society that is advancing rapidly, the retro and a la page factors coexist in the image expression about people's garment. As different fashion items emerged, unique fashion knit wear is attracting attention recently and it is being selected as a way of expressing individuality in an area of fashion. Following this expansion of knit wear into sensual fashion knit as mentioned above, knit design development, which had been neglected for the time being, is being studied from various aspects.
Recently, designs that use various knit texture are actively being developed by the introduction of high tech automatic computer flatbed knitting machine. Also, as one stop work type sewing free knitting machine was introduced, high value added products are being developed such as knit wears with simplified process or seamless knit wear. These seamless knit wears come to have unique features and common features in the development process of texture or pattern in the realization of design.
This study aims at the principle and characteristics of producing seamless knit wear and the purpose of this study is to create a new knit using the method of making the expression by developing various stripe patterns on the silhouette of human body by knitting, which is the basics of knitting, and applying return stitch that enables partial knitting.
The content of this study is first, to look into the concept and characteristics of knit, analyze the principle of basic knit fabric composition and various knit fabrics. Then, I have analyzed and summarized the design construction principle and characteristics required for stripe pattern development. Second, I have looked into stripe patterns appeared in modern fashion, third, based on the above theoretical background and modern fashion's stripe pattern case study, I have made 8 knit dresses using strip pattern.
As a method of study, I have investigated fashion related books and thesis, internet data and fashion periodicals and collected and analyzed photographic references for theoretical approach.
For the method of making the dresses, I have used hand-knitting machine to make knitted fabric, and I have selected the purled side for the surface that can emphasize stripes. For knitting technique, I have used return stitch to increase and decrease number of stitches, and I have chosen seamless finish method by eliminating unnecessary seam lines in completing a work.
For the item of work, I have selected knit dress in consideration of expression of line and elongation and laid out stripes in harmony to the human body, and for color I have used black and for the stripes that makes the pattern, I have used white.
For material, nylon tape, cotton knot yarn, cotton slub yarn, cotton silk, mohair, cotton and paper tape, chenille yarn, angola yarn, tamtam yarn and special threads such as silver yarn, gold yarn and gold corkscrew yarn etc. I have used stripe line as a way of showing the draping nature of knit and to hold, which at the same time, holds the shape in place and emphasizes the thread in different characteristic.
The conclusion of this study is as follows.
First, I have found out that the endless shapes of lines that can be found in the design factor and the lines of body can accept encounter with any kind of line naturally. By re-allotting various stripe patterns according to the sensual curves of the human body to express in my works, stripe patterns could suggest the possibility of making various creative expression that reflects modern design trend.
Second is that general opinion that the unstability of shape that is seen in knits due to its strong draping nature as its shortcoming. However, in this study, by appropriately mixing yarns with strong draping characteristics and those not, I could make a shape that compromises with bell shape. By applying this draping nature, I could suggest the possibility of creating lines that is useful for various silhouettes.
Third, in the selection of knit dress material, I have used fancy yarn that are not used commonly in order to keep the substantiality of the textile's texture. Also, as the result of using knitted fabric, which is the basics of knit, instead of using various complicated fabrics, I could re-recognize the importance and value of yarns as knit wear design could be created by using yarns that fit to the unique fancy yarns' characteristics without using complicated knit fabric.
Four, the return stitch applied in the works of this study is what is basically and commonly used to enlarge and reduce the size freely in knitting that can be called as the most suitable method in seamless knit wear production that is produced by high tech knitting machines.
Five, in order to produce seamless knit wear, the start and finish lines of the stripes were laid out to fit the knitting direction by estimating the measures that will be enlarged and reduced so that the entire process can be completed in a one top line. As production began after estimating the entire process of knitting the work, I could derive the most useful and reasonable lines.
As above stated, I could break the general conception on knit wear and suggest the possibility of knit wear design in the silhouette that has both artistic quality and practical purpose for many uses by designing unique and creative seamless knit wear using strip pattern.
