As Korean companies gradually adopt situational judgment test(“SJT”) as a method of selection tool, SJT is necessary to be validated. Traditionally, validity is classified into three categories; criterion-related validity, content-related validity and construct-related validity. However, AERA, APA & NCME (1999) adopted validity as one concept that is verified by evidences. Therefore, in this research, the validation of SJT is approached as two steps: passive validation approach and active validation approach. Passive validation approach is verified by component factor analysis and active validation approach is verified by relations with other variables based on measurement variables and theory variables.
Regarding these two approaches, dependent variables are contextual performance and adaptive performance and independent variables are general mental ability and big five personalities. Situational judgment in university is validated with these variables.
