This study intended to find how text presentation types on smartphone influences readers’ comprehension along with the text difficulty levels. Study 1 and 2 found that the presentation types(paging vs. scrolling) influence on the reading time, comprehension and preference differently along with the text’s difficulty levels. Specific results are like these. First. The scroll mode is faster to read both in easy and difficult texts. Second, in easy text, the comprehension score is significantly higher in scroll mode, but in the difficult text, the score seems higher in the page mode than in the scroll mode. Third, in the easy text, the scroll mode gets the higher preference, but this tendency disappears in the difficult text. Fourth, in the easy text, the interaction effect between reading frequency and text presentation type was significant but this effect disappears in the difficult text. Additionally, only in the difficult text, the comprehension changes depending on the reading frequency in the difficult text.
