The purpose of this study was to examine a mediating effect of ambivalence
over emotional expression on the relationship between parentification and
well-being of adolescent. The participants of this study were 613 students
sampled from 10 school in Busan and Gyeongsangnamdo. They completed a
set of questionnaires consisting of well-being, parentification and ambivalence
over emotional expression. To analyze the data, correlation analysis and hierarchical regression analysis were performed. Results of this study were as
follows. First, well-being was negatively correlated with parentification and
ambivalence over emotional expression. However, parentification was positively
correlated with ambivalence over emotional expression. Second, ambivalence
over emotional expression partially mediated the effect of parentification on
well-being. Based on the findings, implications and suggestions for further
studies were provided.
