With the recent development of information and communication technology,
new and diverse media have emerged, and as a result, news users have
experienced an environment for new media that they have not experienced
before.
In the multimedia era, by grasping what motives users choose online news
with, what factors they are satisfied with the news, and the impact of these
usage motives and satisfaction variables on the future users' acceptance
intentions, it is constantly changing and developing. In the media
environment, it will be of sufficient significance to find the direction for the
future online news. Through this, not only the use of new media and close
theoretical discussions, but also in practical terms, the potential influence of
online news and areas that can be developed can be combined.
Recently, it is more important to study the reasons for using media than
which media is selected.
This study aims to study the effect of online news use motives on
acceptance intention and satisfaction through theoretical consideration and empirical analysis targeting Korean and Chinese college students.
This study consists of a total of five chapters, and the contents covered in
each chapter are as follows. First, in the introduction of Chapter I, a
question is raised in relation to the necessity of this study, and the
background and purpose of this study, the study method, and the composition
of the thesis are described. In Ⅱ, the theoretical background and preceding
studies related to the research are presented. First, the theoretical
background of online news use motivation, acceptance intention, and
satisfaction is examined. After that, the preceding studies on the relationship
between each variable are reviewed, and based on this, the summary and
limitations of previous studies are presented. In Ⅲ, a research model design
and research hypothesis are set up to achieve the research objectives based
on the theoretical discussion of Ⅱ, and operational definitions and
measurement methods of each research variable are presented. In Ⅳ, the
results of the empirical analysis of the hypotheses presented in this study
and the interpretation and implications of the results are presented. In the
conclusion of Ⅴ, the results of the study are comprehensively summarized
and the significance of the study results is explained. Finally, we will discuss
the limitations of this study and suggest the direction of future related
research.
In accordance with the research results, in hypothesis 1, there is a positive
“(+)” influence of its interestingness, informality, restlessness, news pursuit
and convenience on satisfaction when college students in South Korea use
net news. Taking Chinese college students as an example, there is a positive
“(+)” influence of the using motivation of net news on news pursuit,
habituation, interactivity, convenience and the satisfaction with net news.
In hypothesis 2, the interestingness, informality, habituation and
convenience of the using motivation of online news of college students in
South Korea are reflected in the acceptance intention of online news, while
for Chinese college students, the informality, habituation and convenience are
reflected in the acceptance intention of online news.
Finally, in hypothesis 3, there is a positive “(+)” influence of the
satisfaction of online news on the acceptance level of online news. In
addition, this research also considers that the PLS path coefficient of college students in South Korea and China is different, and the motivations and
purposes for using net news by two countries are different due to the
characteristics and cultures of news media in different countries, so the
satisfaction is also different.
This study has several limitations, and it is judged that there is a need for
a complementary study in the future. First, since the data on the measured
variable was collected through a questionnaire, the variable was measured,
and used for empirical analysis, its own limitations exist. Although corrections
and supplements were performed through practical interviews and preliminary
surveys, the responses to the survey may differ according to the
respondent's degree of perception, and the results may differ according to
the respondent's subjective judgment. In addition, as a result of using a
sample biased toward university students who are judged to use a lot of
online news as the subject of the survey in this study, there is a limitation
in generalizing the results of the study. Second, since only online news was
investigated among various types of news, there are many limitations in
applying the results of this study to the general news. Third, since the
analysis was conducted through a questionnaire survey on the satisfaction of
online news, future studies will grasp the actual conditions of various
methods of use by users such as more in-depth content utilization and
information acquisition methods, and analysis through data. You will need
this. Based on these data, it is judged that the desirable direction of online
news can be suggested, but this study has a limitation in that it is centered
on demographic factors. Therefore, research in a wider range in the future
is expected to have many meanings.
