      최근 국내 신발 시장이 패션, 라이프스타일 마켓으로 빠르게 진화하고 있다. 사람들이 자신만의 생활패턴을 추구하고, 독특한 패션 스타일을 찾으려는 니즈가 강해지면서 이러한 트렌드를 잘 반영한 라이프스타일 슈즈 시장이 확대되고 있는 것이다.
      패션슈즈가 유행인 현재 국내 브랜드로서의 경쟁력은 한계에 부딪히고 있다. 해외 명품 및 유명 브랜드제품을 비슷하게 만들어 제조, 생산, 판매 하는 것은 브랜드가치를 스스로 무너뜨리고 있다는 것을 알아야 할 것이다.
      이는 1960년대부터 OEM 생산만 해온 본 한국 신발산업의 고질적인 문제점이기도 하다. 새로운 기술 개발 보다는 OEM 생산이 개발 비용이 들지 않아 기업 자체적으로 신기술 개발에 투자를 꺼리기 때문이다.
      국내 신발산업의 구조는 주로 소품종 대량생산의 형태를 갖추고 있다. 이는 아직도 대기업 OEM 구조에서 벗어나지 못하고 있다는 반증이며, 높은 인건비와 유지비를 감당하지 못하여 많은 제조 기업들이 단가 유지를 위해 비교적 인건비가 싼 해외로 생산 공장을 이전 하고 있는 실정이다.
      또한 최근 경기의 침체로 인해 다품종소량생산을 원하는 바이어가 늘어나고 있는 실정이다. 환경변화에 따른 다품종소량생산의 필요성이 대두 되고 있으나 적은 수량으로 생산을 하기에는 해외 공장의 물류비가 오히려 더 많이 들게 되는 구조가 되기도 한다.
      이러한 변화가 이루어지고 있는 신발 산업에 있어서 새로운 제품 개발 시도가 계속되어야함에 따라 디자이너의 역할은 중요해질 수밖에 없다.
      최신의 트랜드와 패션의 동향, 소비자의 욕구를 충족시키며 제조 단가까지 고려하여 새로운 제품을 개발하는 것은 쉬운 문제는 아니다.
      하지만 디자이너라면 이를 지속적으로 파악하고 분석하며 해결해야할 역량을 지녀야 할 것임은 분명하다.
      해외 브랜드와 국내 대기업 OEM으로 인해 신발 제조기술은 세계적으로 뛰어난 기술력을 보유 하고 있다. 하지만 디자인과 신기술 개발에 있어서는 아직 뒤떨어지고 있다.
      국내 신발 업계에서는 해외 브랜드 제품의 디자인을 모방하는 수준이며, 디자인 개발에 있어 투자는 잘 이루어지지 않고 있다.
      이에 국내 신발 업계에 디자인, 신기술 개발 분야의 새로운 기술을 알림으로서 다시금 예전과 같은 경쟁력을 확보 할 수 있을 것이다.
      따라서 본 본문에서는 웰트화의 개념과 국내외 신발 시장 규모와 국내외 웰트화 브랜드를 조사한 결과를 토대로 하여 웰트화 디자인 및 기능성에 관한 문제점을 파악하여 웰트화 디자인과 기능성 개선 방안을 제안 하고자 한다.

      Recently, the domestic shoe market is rapidly evolving into a fashion and lifestyle market. people seek their own lifestyle patterns, as the need for a unique fashion style grows, the lifestyle shoes market that reflects these trends is expanding. The fashion shoes are trendy now competitiveness as a domestic brand is facing limitations.
      This is also a chronic problem for the Korean shoe industry, which has been producing OEM since the 1960s. This is because OEM production, rather than new technology development, does not incur development costs, and companies are reluctant to invest in new technology development.
      The structure of the domestic shoe industry mainly takes the form of mass production of small items. this is a testament to the fact that they are still not out of the large OEM structure. Unable to afford high labor and maintenance costs, many manufacturing companies are relocating their production plants abroad to maintain unit prices. also, due to the recent economic downturn, more and more buyers are seeking to produce small quantities of various products. The necessity of small quantity batch production due to environmental changes is emerging. in order to produce in small quantities, the logistics cost of overseas plants may be higher.
      As new product development efforts continue in the footwear industry where these changes are taking place, the role of the designer becomes inevitable.
      Developing a new product that meets the latest trends, fashion trends, consumer needs, and even manufacturing costs is not an easy problem.
      But it's clear that designers must have the capacity to constantly identify, analyze, and resolve them. due to overseas brands and domestic large-scale OEM, shoe manufacturing technology possesses world-class technological prowess. but it still lags behind in design and new technology development.
      In the domestic shoe industry, it mimics the design of overseas branded products. investment in design development is not well made.
      Therefore, the company will be able to secure the same competitiveness as before by informing the domestic footwear industry of new technologies in the fields of design and new technology development. therefore, in this paper, the concept of welt shoes, based on the results of researching domestic and foreign welting brands by identifying the problems related to the design and functionality of the welt shoes, we propose a method for improving the design and functionality of the welt shoes.
