성인을 위한 영어 읽기 교재 개발 연구 = Reading Materials for Adults

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This material is for reading stories that have been happening everyday. Stories are related to the experiences of the learners so they are interested and absorbed stories. While adult learners have more difficulty in learning English than young learners, adult learners have more advantage than young learners do because adult learners have more life experiences. Those life experiences can motivate adult learners to study English by helping them to imagine, guess and predict what is happening in the everyday life.
All the stories are based on cultural things that learners have experienced directly or indirectly so adult learners can get involved in the stories voluntarily.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 작품은 영어 읽기 학습을 위한 교재로 대한민국 성인이라면 경험했을 내용으로 이루어져있어 학습자들은 영어 읽기 활동에 관심을 가지고 쉽게 영어 학습을 할 수 있도록 하는 것이 목적이다. 성인 학습자들이 영어 학습을 시작할 때 영어를 습득하는 것은 어린 학습자들보다 어렵지만 성인 학습자들이 그들이 경험한 생활을 배경으로 영어 학습을 한다면 영어 학습의 동기 부여가 될 뿐만 아니라 영어 학습에 적극 참여 할 수 있을 것이다.
본 작품을 이용하여 영어 학습을 하는 경우 영어의 언어학적 요소인 어휘, 문법, 문장 표현법 등을 학습자가 습득할 수 있음은 물론 우리 문화 속에서 발생하는 사건들을 영어로 다루고 생각해볼 수 있는 기회를 가질 수 있다.
본 작품은 우리 문화 속에서 성인 학습자들이 직접적으로 혹은 간접적으로 접했을 내용들로 이루어졌기 때문에 성인 학습자들이 자발적으로 영어 읽기 학습 활동을 할 수 있다는 점에 의의가 있다.
