Because of the close-geographical distance, China and South Korea, from the ancient times, have many exchanges in politics, economy and culture. In modern times, communication has become increasingly active in both countries, which inevitably resulted in cultural interpenetration and mutual integration. Meanwhile, comparative studies on relevant aspects also emerge as the times require and make certain achievements. Rap art is no exeption.
This thesis choose two kinds of rap art, Pansori from South Korean and Henan pendant from China, as the research object to the comparative study. As two typical rap performance arts, they have many similarities in performance form. In the performance venue, accompanied by live music performance, actor or actress tells the story to the audience by speaking and singing.
Both of these two kinds of performance art are the essence of art through the centuries-old history with conspicuous characteristic of times, nationality, regional, entertaining and educational. This paper is to learn from the angle of the performance art, identify the similarities and differences between Pansori and Henan pendant in the following three aspects.
First of all, this thesis discusses and compares Pansori with Henan pendant on the history and characteristics. According to the historical development process, it is divided into definition, origin, occurrence, development, heyday, recession and present situation. This paper will do study and compare on the above several time periods to find out the similarities and differences in the development of the two performance arts in the history.
Next, this thesis analyzes the performance forms of Pansori and Henan pendant. It is discussed on three main elements: performances of singers, accompanists, the audience; seven auxiliary elements: the premiere platform, acting, music, dance, stage, costume, lighting; three foundations: the whole process, constitute performances, performances and audience interaction. By describing and comparing the above thirteen parts, have a comprehensive understanding of the elements appear in the scene.
Finally, the writer of this paper discusses the social orientation of Pansori and that of Henan pendant. The discussion will be working respectively from the characteristics of the genre, the inheritance methods of performance knowledge, the methods of performance evaluation and the characteristics of aesthetic.
This paper, from the above three aspects, research on Pansori and Henan pendant. Until now, in South Korea, there is nothing report about Henan pendant. Research on Henan pendant still has a lot of room for improvement. So this research has been illuminating. This study plays a complementary role in systematic form of South Korea and China rap art.
