김민주 공간 속 내밀의 조형적 표현 연구 : 연구자의 작품을 중심으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 연구자의 작업을 바탕으로 공간 속 내밀에 대한 연구를 진행한다. ‘집’과 같은 사적 공간은 인간의 신체를 보호하는 물리적 역할을 넘어 심리적 역할을 수행한다. 연구자는 개인의 공간 및 그 안의 사물들이 인간에게 어떠한 영향을 주는지에 대해 살펴보았으며, 인간의 내밀이 발견되고 드러나는 과정을 탐구하였다.
바슐라르는 집을 몽상적 경험을 유도하는 공간으로 바라본다. 이러한 공간 속 대상과 상상력의 결합은 인간의 내밀을 발견하게 하는데, 이로써 평범한 사물들은 내밀을 드러냄으로써 사실의 영역에서 가치의 영역으로 전환된다.
연구자 작품에 등장하는 물감 덩어리는 내부 세계와 외부 세계의 매개로 작용한다. 일상의 사물 ‘침대, 방구석, 의자, 엽서’는 ‘눕기, 보기, 앉기, 쓰기’를 거쳐 그동안 인식하지 못했던 내밀을 감각하게 하고, 이것을 드러내는 발판이 된다. 결과적으로 내밀은 드러냄으로써 인식의 발전에 기여한다는 것을 알 수 있었다.
선행 작가 연구로는 레이첼 화이트리드와 루치오 폰타나의 작품 세계를 분석하였다. 레이첼 화이트리드는 일상 사물에 남겨진 인간의 흔적에 주목하였고 이를 바탕으로 보이지 않던 내밀함을 상상의 공간으로 역전시켰다. 다음으로 폰타나는 독특한 작업 방식을 통해 상상의 공간을 확장하였는데, 연구자는 작품의 형식적 측면에 집중하여 심리적 공간의 확장에 대해 탐구하였다.
연구자는 내밀의 발견과 드러냄을 통해 인식을 발전시키고 발전된 인식이 세계에 새롭게 적용되기를 소망한다. 결론적으로 이러한 과정을 거친 상상의 주체가 아늑한 공간에서의 몽상을 통해 또다시 내밀을 발견하게 되고, 계속해서 순환하며 세계와 조화되길 기대한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper conducts research on the psychological contexts within physical spaces based on the work of the researcher. Private spaces, such as 'home', serve psychological and perceptual functions beyond their physical role of protecting the human body. This research investigates the purpose of personal spaces and objects within them in human lives and explores the process of cognition and formation of individual’s interiority.
Bachelard views the home as a space that foster dreamlike experiences. The interplay of objects within a space and imagination reveals one’s interiority. Such process leads very ordinary objects transition from their fundamental existence to becoming inspirational subjects.
The mass of paint featured in the researcher’s works acts as a medium between the internal and external worlds. Everyday objects like "beds, corners, chairs, and postcards" evoke sensory recognition of previously unnoticed aspects through actions such as "lying, observing, sitting, and writing", thus functioning as platforms for revelations of interiority. Ultimately, the act of unveiling interiority contributes to the development of perception and understanding.
The works of Rachel Whiteread and Lucio Fontana have been analyzed as part of this research. Whiteread focuses on the traces of human presence in everyday objects, transforming unseen aspects into imaginative spaces. Fontana expands the boundaries of imaginative spaces through his distinctive techniques, and the researcher focuses on the formative expressions in Fontana’s works to explore the extension of psychological spaces.
The researcher aspires deeper perspectives to be cultivated through the discovery and revelation of interiority, and be applied to the internal and external worlds. In conclusion, this research anticipates the imaginative individuals engaging in this process will rediscover interiority through dreams in private and personal spaces, and continuously circulate and harmonize in the expanded world.
