현대디자인 활용을 위한 한국의 전통짜임구조 분석 : 전통짜임과 디자인요소의 상관성을 중심으로

We should have a new cultural competitive system suitable for a new trend of the times by growing and developing our proper culture. A look at the reality of our culture will reveal that our culture has lost its continuity amidst a lot of historical changes and been unilaterally incorporated into foreign cultures. In addition, we have experienced a discontinuation from traditions, in a crisis of not succeeding to our traditional culture.
In particular, the reality at present is that the rapid reception of Western culture in the wake of the industrial modernization has caused the Western culture to interfere even with our mental world. In this light, we should admit that we have not made sufficient efforts to develop and succeed to our diverse traditional culture that into modern design. And the long discontinuation from traditional craft skills means that we fail to succeed to our traditional various skills.
In this light, it is necessary to activate traditional craft skills, develop modern design that contains tradition, and grow it into a future strategic industry by providing a method of applying traditional craft skills to modern design, on the basis of a study of traditional craft skills that can be referred to as the prototype of our skills.
For this purpose, this paper conducts a study of how to apply them to modern design by connecting the value of zzaim of the traditional craft skills with the scope of design.
Zzaim is not given any evaluation of technological excellence sufficiently, and lacks the understanding by the public and the useful value although it is excellent in technology. However, it is a structure that has a function of “connecting structure” and makes it possible to express variously according to the form of texture and actively apply it to design development.
This paper intends to lay the basis for activating the application of zzaim to popular and industrial design and contribute to spreading the skills that are high in usefulness and application by providing a new method for applying it to modern design.
For this purpose, it provides a method for applying important elements according to products during the course of design and applying zzaim to design, which can apply appropriate zzahim, as a method for applying it to modern design.
An analysis of the usefulness of zzaim by applying zzaim as the method to furniture that is expected to have the high usefulness of application in modern design reveals that zzaim can be applied in terms of value and practicality.
In the value-centered furniture, the characteristic of decoration and solidness is important for the purpose of expressing the features of zzaim. When the elements of design that can influence in terms of design emphasize the characteristic of decoration, the design is effective in originality, time and productivity. And when the characteristic of solidness is emphasized, the design can influence the stability, productivity and typicality of the design elements.
Next, as for the practicality-centered furniture, solidness and simplicity is important in the elements of zzaim, a feature of zzaim. When these elements are applied to a product, the related elements, because of design effect, can influence stability, productivity and typicality. When simplicity is emphasized, the design becomes a design that is effective in productivity.
The analysis shows that it is the “characteristic of solidness” that is regarded as important in both value-centered and practicality-centered furniture. Therefore, the solidness of zzaim is important for applying it to modern design; for this design, ‘yeongwi zzaim,’ ‘jangbu zzaim,’ and ‘panjae zzaim’ can be applied. When a design that applies the appropriate zzaim for this is produced, with solidness emphasized, it can influence stability, productivity, and typicality in modern design.
With a design that emphasizes according to the elements of design, the method of applying zzaim can increase the effect of design that can influence modern design by appropriately applying zzaim, by comprehending what relations the elements of zzaim have with other elements and what influence they have on them. Therefore, it is possible to produce a design suitable for the elements that are the characteristics of zzaim and the standard of design by applying zzaim to what should be considered for modern furniture and the elements.
