Modern eco-friendly houses include the selection of eco-friendly building materials for indoor air quality, smart facilities that minimize environmental pollution, and green space in residential complex. These architectural plans can not be understood to comply with the order of natural landscape. The architectural plan only pursues convenience while protecting the environment. It is different from the lifestyle that maintains personality formation, healthy growth and health necessary for human being. The problem of modern eco-friendly architecture is that it can not become a space where people can stay for a long time because of lacking analysis of lot for location selection and spatial composition according to the flow of energy. In order to meet the genuine order of nature, location selection and architectural planning, which were planned with Feng Shui elements, should be conducted. Feng Shui is the fundamental element that is required the most in the residential space planning, and modern Yangtaek Feng Shui indicator is indispensable for the spread of the right environmental-friendly housing.
In order to establish the principle of traditional Feng Shui systematically, it might be possible to institutionalize it by establishing the interpretation of the residential space in search of the origin. Therefore, it has an important value to develop the Feng Shui indicator of specific evaluation criteria for Feng Shui to become a social institution. The development of the indicator for the Feng Shui certification system is intended to induce the construction of the right nature-friendly structure and the improve the modern eco-friendly residential complex, and to establish a new type of architectural plan in which traditional architecture and modern architecture are compatible with each other. So the research is necessary to bridge, practicalize and institutionalize the modern and the traditional.
According to the first records, Feng Shui has existed as the term 'Sangtaek' since the ancient times, and has continued until the present times while being equipped with an academic system of theory as concepts and methods were established under the empirical experience. Therefore, based on the original text of Feng Shui, the Feng Shui Index and its elements are drawn as common items through the formal logics of Feng Shui, the review of classical literature on inhabitable place, and the preliminary research of the application of it to modern residence. It is divided into the environmental plan such as the analysis of the location by the theory of vitality, the theory of situation, the theory of geomantic aspect, and Bibo theory of the Feng Shui, and the architectural plan such as the analysis of the lot by waterway and geomagnetic field and the spatial composition on the virtual, arrangement, orientation, indoor environment and landscape of the building. In addition, the evaluation items are presented as a basic research on the development of Feng Shui Indicator for Feng Shui Certification System.
This study differs from the existing Feng Shui indicator in that it includes the eco-friendly elements of traditional architecture and modern ecological architecture and the ecological elements of social certification system in terms of location and spatial composition of modern housing environment. In addition, it is also significant to require the necessity of lot analysis by the theory of vitality and actively introduce the scientific method. It is a prerequisite and necessary to introduce rather than present the clear Feng Shui indicator of the Feng Shui certification system. It will be necessary to improve the limitations as the planning indicator by constant development and integration of the Feng Shui indicator, and to tune main issues so that they could be established as a social system.
