This study mainly focused on examining the effect of game character's personality and game's story line on game immersion. As character's gender and games as the independent variable, not only game immersion, but other dependent variables were measured - the player's intimacy toward the character, perception of the level of voice acting. Using two adventure games as the stimuli, participants played randomized two game scenes for 5 minutes and filled in the questionnaire composed of voice acting elements(Adams, E., and Rollings, A, 2007), Miller Social Intimacy Scale(MSIS;Miller & Lefcourt,1982) and game evaluation checklist(Isbister,K.,2006). There was no significant difference of gender and games on the perception of the voice acting and intimacy. However, a significant difference was shown on game immersion between two games. Between games, the one with tense story line and game characters with personality traits of extroversion was rated higher in game immersion. The results of this study suggest that the tension in game's story line and extroverted game characters could contribute to the immersion in game.
