제주도 성읍민속마을의 공간구성과 풍수지리 입지 연구 = A Study on the Spatial Composition and Feng Shui in the Folk Village of Seongeup, Jeju Island

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 풍수․지형적 관점에서 정의읍성이었던 성읍마을을 분석한다. 읍성은 주로 북쪽으로 산이 있고, 남쪽으로 물을 끼고 있는 배산임수에 입각한 입지 선정이다. 또한 이러한 입지 선정에는 풍수지리 사상이 바탕이 되어 건축물의 배치 구성이나 성문(城門) 등의 위치의 차이가 있다.
정의읍성 역시 지형적 특성에 따라 공간구성과 주요 건축물의 위치와 좌향 등이 다르게 나타나고, 읍성 일대에 분포되어 있는 오름들은 화산지형만이 갖는 특성으로 풍수적 의미가 있다.
기생화산인 오름은 풍수적 용맥체계와 사신사(四神砂)의 기능을 갖고 성읍마을의 입지에 영향을 끼쳤다는 사실을 본 연구를 통해서 확인한다. 이와 함께 오름의 지형적 물성(物性)과 관련된 특징들이 마을 입지에 구현한 풍수적 가치를 지니고 있다.
이와 같은 의미를 바탕으로 정의읍성에 대한 입지적 특성을 지형․풍수적 관점에서 분석하는 것은 조선시대 제주도의 3읍성 가운데 유일하게 가장 잘 보전되고 있는 정의읍성을 통해 당대의 자연 지리관을 이해할 수 있는 근거를 제시할 수 있고, 향후 성읍마을을 재구성할 수 있는 논거를 제공할 수 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study analyzes the Seongeup Village, which was a righteous town from the perspective of feng shui and topography. Eupseong Fortress is a location selection based on the mountain in the north and the river in the south. In addition, this location selection is based on the idea of feng shui geography, and there are differences in the layout of buildings and the location of gates.
Jeonguiupseong Fortress also has different spatial composition, location and left direction of major buildings depending on topographical characteristics, and the oreum distributed in the eupseong area has feng shui meaning as it is a characteristic of only volcanic topography.
Through this study, it is confirmed that Oreum, a parasitic volcano, has a feng shui vein system and functions as a four gods' sands and influenced the location of Seongeup Village. In addition, the characteristics related to the topographical properties of Oreum have the feng shui value embodied in the location of the village.
Based on this meaning, analyzing the location characteristics of Jeonguiupseong Fortress from a topographical and Pungsu perspective can provide a basis for understanding the natural geography of the time through the only well-preserved Jeonguiupseong Fortress in Jeju Island during the Joseon Dynasty, and provide a basis for reconstructing the town in the future.
