영어 마찰음의 지도 방안 = A Study of Effective Methods for Teaching English Fricatives

국문 초록 (Abstract)

제2언어로써 영어를 학습하는 학습자는 영어의 여러 영역중 마찰음의 습득에 대해 특히 어려워한다. 마찰음의 정의를 살피고 그의 이론적 배경과 내용을 확인해 본 후, 마찰음에 대한 음운론적 과정을 살피고 이를 토대로 보다 효과적인 영어 마찰음 지도 방안에 대하여 고찰해본다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The Purpose of this thesis is to find effective methods for teaching English fricatives.
Many students who study in Korea experience difficulties with pronunciation, especially of fricatives. Currently there are few guidelines or teaching methods about English fricatives for both the students and the teachers.
In order to solve these problems, examined Korean learners' errors in pronunciation of English fricatives at first, and searched the reasons for these errors. Once we can recognize the cause of the problems accurately, then we can begin to solve the problems with ease. Also, I explained the reasons for the errors, using 'Markedness hierarchy' and 'Native language transfer'.
In order to find the effective method for teaching English fricatives, I contrasted and analysed the differences between English fricatives and Korean fricatives. Then, I studied the phonological process of both Korean and English fricatives. It will be helpful to make a system or guideline to teach and learn the fricatives effectively.
On the basis of the contents of this study, we will find the most effective way to teach fricatives in middle or high schools.
