Abstract
For confirming effects of Dansam(SM;Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge) and Dansameum(DSE) on gastroesophageal reflux disease(GERD) and reflux esophagitis, we wanted to compare Inhibitory effects of SM and DSE with the representative treatment PPI Omeprazole, and check if effects of the prescription Dansameum(DSE) made by the theory of Korean Medicine would be better than those of single-use of Dansam(SM).
We performed experiments using both of animal models and cancer cells. When we compared SM and DSE with PPI in the animal model tests, SM and DSE showed superior effects in all categories(8-OHdG, p-IκB, PAR2, COX-1, Cathelicidin, p-JNK, Caspase 3, ATP6V1B1, GRPR, Serotonin, NPY) than PPI. Especially, In three categories of COX-1, Serotonin and NPY, SM and DSE showed superior results compared to not only GERDE and PPI, but also Ctrl. And moreover In the animal model tests, DSE was superior to SM in all categories except only Serotonin. In the observation of anti-cancer effects through cancer cell-main tests, SM and DSE showed the meaningful results in cytotoxicity and cell movement rate, and also in cancer cell apoptosis induced tests.
Through these results, We confirmed SM and DSE can have effects on reflux esophagitis through regulation of oxidative stress, inflammation, mucosa protection, apoptosis, proton pump and enteroendocrine system in stomach and esophagus. And we confirmed that SM and DSE have more superior effects than PPI on all parts, especially in gastric mucosa protection and enteroendocrine system control. We also confirmed SM and DSE have anti-cancer effects. Above all, We confirmed that DSE has more superior effects on almost all parts compared to using SM alone.
