As the data communication has witnessed the rapid change, new technologies for voice transmission, such as VoIP, VtoA and VoDSL, based on packet switching are introduced, which is except to replace the existing telephone networks. Also, a variety of scenarios and solutions about the next-generation communications network providing multi-service, which integrates voices and data, has been proposed and standardized by different committees or forums. In order to predict the developing trend of communications network, to actively participate in the next generation communica-tions network through its modeling and to improve service quality for subscribers, it is inevitable to change the structure of present switching system. As part of the structure, research on variant information of V5.2 Protocol, which connects on PSTN using subscriber networks as transmission unit, certainly will be the base to explore the evolving way of access gateway. This will have a positive influence in securing flexible network in the Next Generation Networks system.
In this thesis two methods are suggested. First method is to accommodate POTS(Plain Old Telephone Services) subscribers on the existing analog switching system in the way of FTTC(Fiber To The Curb)using the V5.2 Protocol. The second method is considered for variant information management of the V5.2 Protocol, which deletes ISDN’s control channels in order to exclude unnecessary data management in the process of accommodating ISDN subscribers. Therefore, the maximum efficiency of the V5.2 Protocol operation is accomplished.
