Due to recent heavy rains, landslides have caused urban property damage and affected peoples lives. It is due to the development of the residential areas and industrial areas at the bottom of the slope.
The fluid viscosity, particle size distribution, void‘s ratio and size, soil particle's roughness and saturation of soil, and other factors affect the permeability of soil. Considering the characteristics of landslides, even though distribution of the same lipid in natural slope, it is possible to understand that the chance of landslides can be different depending on high or low of the coefficient of permeability(Braja M. D. (1998)). Therefore landslides in Slope are closely related to soil properties such as Unit weight, particle size, compressibility, permeability, and so on.
I chose two sites in seoul city, a large landslide and a stable area unaffected by landslides, and began a comparative analysis of the soil properties. The results showed that the landslide site contains fine soil particles and clay. There are also higher density in the landslide site than the other site, and it is causing poor water permeability. Therefore the flow rate of discharge water is important, because the water permeates the soil and moves slowly, so the pore water pressure will result in slope instability
