The importance of communication between different cultures is increasing day by day in the era of rapid development of science and technology. In addition to spoken language, we also use a variety of silent languages, such as facial expressions, gestures and smells, for more persuasive communication. This silent language is also known as auxiliary "language" and the concept of "non-language" is the same. It shows great differences between countries and nationalities, and even the same form can express the opposite meaning because non-verbal communication has distinct cultural characteristics. As a consequence, there has been a lot of study on non-verbal communication for a long time. However, there is a lack of study on non-verbal gestures and their importance in the field of design.
Familiar gesture expressions can be used to express a variety of meanings, and can highlight the important information of the topic in visual communication. Many designers regard the use of gestures as an important means of visual communication design. As an important expression element of visual design, it is used in many fields, such as identity design, poster design, advertising design and so on. However, under the influence of globalization, many social and cultural clues can be provided by analyzing the meaning of gestures in design. As a consequence, it is necessary to study non-verbal gestures in the field of design. In addition, gesture language is the most frequently used and widely used in non-verbal communication. It has become an important means of communication in daily life and is of great significance for the analysis of visual characteristics.
This study reconfirms the relationship and role of gestures in non-verbal communication, in order to study the effect of gestures in visual marketing and communication because of this study background and necessity. As a consequence, this study makes a detailed analysis of the way of expression and the use of meaning expression, and concludes that the active use of gesture language promotes the development of communication design as the goal. In addition, gesture language is of universal significance in transmitting visual information, which contributes to solve the cultural conflicts caused by gesture language and improve the public's cognition of gestures.
This study is a gesture language with a variety of performance features and functions, which can provide a variety of possibilities for design as the study object, and expounds the relatively representative identity design, poster design and advertising design in the field of visual design. The characteristics and frequency of expression are analyzed for the first time through the application of opponent potential in visual design. After that, the meaning types of gestures are analyzed for the second time in order to find the correlation between meaning and the method of expression.
The results are as follows. First of all, the most commonly used gesture in the design is the gesture with five fingers stretched from the perspective of identity design. In addition, in the design, the meaning varies according to the angle and direction. By dividing the gestures in posters into cultural activity posters, social enlightenment posters and commodity advertising posters, it is found that there are visual expressions that can strengthen social functions in various fields. Specifically, cultural activity posters are mainly five-finger stretching gestures and clenched fist gestures, social enlightenment posters are mainly index finger and clenched fist gestures, and commodity advertising posters are mainly gestures that show product characteristics. It is a consumer-centered way of communication, mainly through the gestures of models to convey product information, to induce consumers' desire to buy in advertising design.
The expression of gesture language and the reasonable positioning of meaning types are very important design means in visual communication design. Many designers are looking for creativity. As each of us is familiar with the image, we often ignore the gesture language that can express a lot of beautiful feelings and psychological desires. Gesture, as a design element, shows a lot of language charm, such as movement, direction, quantity, emotion and so on. As a consequence, it is not only used in daily design, but also has a lot of development potential in advertising, marketing, publicity, service and other fields. It is expected that the follow-up study can continue to be carried out.
