The Effects of Internet Addiction on
School Adjustment
among Elementary School Students

The research shows the differences between students' adjustment on the school life get along with their amounts of the internet addiction in the view of a variety of background.
And the purpose of this study is to find out why they are addicted to internet and to take precaution or actions against Internet addiction.

For this objective, we have the research problems as follows:
Topic 1. the school adaption according to gender difference based on the internet addiction
Topic 2. the school adaption according to academic score based on the internet addiction

Topic 3. the school adaption according to home background based on the internet addiction
Topic 4. the relation between the internet addiction and school adaption.

To get the answers, the survey was performed on the elementary school students in "K" city which locate in the Kangwon. And the results are as follows:
First, male students' degree of Internet addiction is higher than female students' and their main interest is online games. We think it's a good way to guide them to make friends, get a hobby or play sports in the early stage of Internet addiction.
Second, compared to the research, the students whose academic score is not good and home backgrounds are bad have difficulties on school adjustment when they're addicted to internet. In this case, the continuous care and concern are needed for them not to have a feel like they're neglected.

To see it overall, we can figure out that Internet addicted students have a bad aspects over their whole school lives. As they're in the important stage of human growing and maturity, we have to work out variety of educational guidance. As an example, "After-school" and supplemental instruction are good way.
And we need a countermeasure to the student behavior to make students to carry on the proper school lives. In addition, we have to better understanding of Internet addiction phenomenon.
