The history of the art management is not that long. The art management that is supposed to be newly- born and fused study has only 50 years of global history. The improvement of private life standard begun from capitalism increased the role of cultural art and locally, nationally, internationally and world-widely, the social and economic profits from such an enlarged cultural art field may give birth to the concept of art management and paradigm.
Because art management, compared with the other studies, owns comparatively short history, we can say it seems nascent research on the incalculable spectrum.
Moreover, after the introduction into Korea, it has not passed over 30 years. Nevertheless, What is the reason that the various kinds of art organizations emerged rapidly and swiftly without special grounds? The question is the starting point of this thesis.
The most important role is to try to aim at causing consumers to meet most effectively with artists and artistic works. Likewise, art organizers mediate cultural contact between consumers and artists, between local community and nation. Meanwhile, since 1960 as Art management became a faculty, after having introduced administration into art area, centering on the advanced countries.
Since art management clothed with academic colours was introduced into the Korean educational institutions, About 30 universities activated and utilized the undergraduate and postgraduate courses. I will try to research into the items as follows; Sorts of the preparation for the educational courses and the actual offering to the students in each university, so called, the living academy of instruction. The contents of the detailed curriculums. The difference between curriculums of foreign universities and those of Korean universities. The efficacy and value of that faculty. The careful probe into positive orientation for education after capturing on characteristics and direction of Korean universities through the analysis of each course. This thesis will put especial emphasis on history and curriculum of art management within Korean universities, the comparison of art management of Korean universities with that of universities in the U.S.A and U.K and the curriculum in art management of the famous foreign universities, in particular, stressing on the internship as the sharp difference both in the past and presence. With this, in prologue, I will try, in conclusion, to discover the characteristics of the Korean art management and the future orientation of it.
