유표성 이론과 영어 음성 지도 = Markedness Theory and the Teaching of English Pronunciation

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

According to rapid development of traffic and communication, nowadays international exchange gets frequent and so the world becomes narrow to a day-life-zone. Accordingly, learning a foreign language is getting essential to most people and we lay great emphasis on a foreign language education of our education category.
Learning a foreign language means that we learn phonology, vocabulary, syntax, and cultural background of that language. Therefore, the goal of studying English is to freely communicate through that language and understand and accept further into the culture.
To direct effective English sound which is the first step of free communication, comparing Korean phoneme with English one, analyzing them, finding out a problem error(fallacy) when pronouncing English sound, and making a suggestion a collective plan have continued study. However, when considering study cases established comparing and analyzing theoretical source or criteria between Korean and English phonemes by various setting, quality result is not quite enough while quantity is.
Accordingly, this study is based on markedness theory to direct effective sound and intends to view how to direct pronunciation, becoming a basis of English study, via markedness theory for effective English study.
To establish a development plan of effective direction for English pronunciation, as above, this study includes;
First, in addition to the brief introduction to markedness theory, every English segment will be classified into consonants and vowels, take a look at each manner and point of articulation, and then examine markedness or unmarkedness through its complexity.
Second, following the segments I will research generalized systematic structure of syllables which are subdividable element of phonology, find out what marked relation between segments is shown, and thus how phoneme arrangement is established and limited in accordance with initial, final, and medial, in order.
Third, I will specifically examine a general learning term based on markedness theory of segments and syllables and sound direction method of unmarked phoneme and markedness theory.
Finally, the above will be summarized and reformed.
