This study presents air conditioning system characteristics using R-410A as an alternative refrigerant for R-22. The refrigerant cycle using the experiment is combined with air-enthalpy calorimeter. The optimized refrigerant charge was first found for each cycle. The performance and pressure dorp inside heat exchagers are measured on various indoor/outdoor temperatures both for R-410A and R-22 and comparisions are made. The experimental results indicated that the R-410A cycle reveals better performance over the R-22 cycle for indoor temperature changes, while the R-22 cycle shows higher cooling capacity and COP for outdoor temperature changes. But R-410A cycle has smaller pressure dorp inside evaporator and condenser on both conditions.
