한말 典圜局의 경영실태와 황실재정

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study analyzes the Mint Bureau, Chonhwan’guk, which was a state-owned company in early modern Korea. So far the company was a major subject of financial history, but this paper investigates it from business history perspective. It means that the company will be dealt as a part of not macroeconomic but microeconomic history. The goals of this paper are two things. One is to clarify the business status of the company in detail based on empirical evidence. The other is to check the relationship between the company and royal family in Great Han Empire. From the result of this paper, we will be able to understand the problem which stems from minting the copper coins.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구에서는 화폐금융사 연구의 소재가 아닌 근대 기업(firm)의 일환으로서 전환국이라는 기관 자체에 초점을 맞추고자 한다. 이러한 접근법은 종래의 거시경제적 관점과는 다른 미시경제적, 즉 기업사적 관점에 해당한다. 近代的 公企業에 대한 본격적 분석의 첫 사례로서, 정부주도 근대공업의 발달사 또는 운영사를 개척하고자 하는 시도이다. 종래에는 원자료를 적극적으로 발굴, 활용하는 방식의 깊이 있는 연구가 이루어지지 못하였기 때문에, 1880년대 들어서 추진된 식산흥업정책의 추진 결과로서 건설된 근대공업에 대한 재평가가 시도된 바 없다. 이에 전환국의 경영실태를 가능한 한 구체적 수준에서 밝히고, 전환국의 운영을 황실과의 관련성 속에서 재구성하는 것을 목표로 설정하였다. 전환국의 운영에 대한 이해가 제대로 이루어진 연후에야 당오전이나 백동화 문제에 관한 근본적인 재검토 또한 가능해질 것이다. 전환국에 대한 인식 수준의 심화는 답보 상태의 근대화폐금융사 연구를 일층 가속화하는 데 기여하게 될 것이다.
