국문 초록 (Abstract)

입성식이 거행되는 날 왕은 신성한 제단으로 변형된 도시에 신성하게 들어섰다. 왕을 보호하는 닫집과 여러 종교적 테마를 다루는 신비극과 알레고리, 스펙터클은 왕의 신성한 종교적 이미지를 강화하였다. 입성식 관계자들은 왕의 신성한 권위를 만들기 위해서 성서와 역사, 그리스와 켈트, 게르만의 신화와 전설 등 모든 요소들을 통합하였다. 이 통합주의를 통해 궁극적으로 의도하는 바는 무엇인가? 통합주의는 얼핏 다채로운 모습을 띠는 것 같지만 그 다채로움은 왕권의 절대적 신성이라는 궁극의 목적을 위해 봉사한다. 따라서 입성식에서 확인할 수 있는 것은 브라이언트의 각양각색의 목소리가 아니라, 모든 정보를 동원해 왕을 신성화하려는 정치적 집념이다. 중세 말 입성식에서 만들어진 왕의 신체는 수많은 사람들로 이루어진 ‘리바이어던의 신체’가 아니라 종교적인 신성함과 우주적 보편성을 지닌 하나의 강력한 신체인 것이다 입성식은 이 신성한 왕권을 만들어내는 ‘권력 센터’였다. 입성식 의례를 통해 왕의 신성한 권위, 종교적 카리스마, 더 나아가 보편적이고 영원한 권위가 발명되고 창조되었다. 이러한 권위는 기어츠의 표현에 의하면 ‘상식적 관점’을 ‘종교적 관점’으로 변형시킨다. 그것이 바로 권력이 작동하는 비밀이고 마술이다. 즉 추상적인 우주의 질서를 경험적이고 가시적으로 제시함으로써 일시적인 것을 영원한 것으로, 지역적인 것을 보편적인 것으로, 세속적인 것을 신성한 것으로, 잘못된 것을 진실 된 것으로 믿게 하는 것이다. 그런 점에서 그건 허구이지만 현실적 위력을 발휘하는 ‘마스터 픽션’이다.

In the 14th century, a royal entry was the simple festival that king and bourgeoisie saw each other. But In the 15th century, during the reign of Louis XI and Charles VIII, it became an important and political event. It was filled with a complicated symbolism and political meanings. The amount of royal entry increased rapidly. During this period, a kingship of France has strengthened. If so, what was their relationship? The royal entry was “Power Center” to make an authority and a charisma for a reinforcement of kingship. The kingship was religious, especially christian by nature. A king was compared to 'Maiestas Domoni' and his image was combined with images of David, Solomon and Saint Louis. Futhermore imperial idea was added to this sacred image of king, with millenarianism and desire of the Crusades. Constantine the Great and Charlemagne was testaments to the imperialism. The royal entry must be considered in the historical context. At that time Europeans needed a strong kingship, an affection for king and a national sentiment.
