통합적 사회 구축을 위한 적극적 연령주의의 정립 The Establishment of Proactive Ageism for Social Integration

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 현대사회 고령자집단의 사회적 불평등을 구성하는 핵심적 요소로서 연령주의(ageism)를 제기하고, 한국사회에서 연령주의가 현대적 형태를 구축하게 된 과정을 역사적•제도적으로 검토하였다. 그리고 현재 연령주의의 실태를 객관적으로 파악하는 실증적 자료들을 구축하고 분석하였다. 나아가 이를 통해 연령이 불평등의 기제로서가 아니라 사회적 통합과 불평등의 해소에 기여할 수 있도록 전환시킬 수 있는 방안을 모색하였다. 3년간의 연구를 통해, 한국의 연령주의의 등장배경과 사회적으로 구조화된 관계로 형성되는 배경을 살펴보았으며, 한국 사회에서 사회 문회적으로 이루어지는 노인집단에 대한 부정적 이미지 형성과 편견 등을 한국 사회의 연령주의 실태조사를 통해 파악하였다, 또한 노인에 대한 사회적 차별과 침해의 구체적인 맥락과 원인, 연령차별에 대한 노인 스스로의 인식, 노인이나 가족, 사회관계에 미치는 영향 등에 대한 질적 분석결과를 제시하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study suggests “ageism” as the critical element which incorporates social inequality among modern society older-age group, and further examines historically and regulation-wise how ageism established a modern form in Korean society. Empirical data and material, which is aimed at objectively grasp the present condition of ageism, is also gathered and analyzed. Further, a threshold method to contribute “age” to social integrity and resolution of inequality beyond only one paradigm of inequality is thoroughly considered. Through research of 3-years, background of how Korean ageism appeared and socially structured is covered, and formation of negative image about older-age group in Korean society is explored by empirical research in Korea. In addition, qualitative analysis on reasons of social discrimination on older people, older people’s self-perception on age-discrimination, and some conditional factors about relationship between older people, family and society are presented.
