The purposed of this study were to identify and categorize job competency necessary for the technology subject teachers in secondary schools, and investigate the importance of each job competency which technological specialists recognized.In accordance with a review of the relevant literature and Delphi survey, job competencies were categorized as follows, basic competency, technological competency, instructional design and performance competency, social and psychological competency. These four categories included 44 job competencies as a result.The following recommendations were suggested from the result of this study.① Various teacher education should be offered so that technological teachers in secondary schools can obtain job competencies which were examined in this study. ② Technological specialists gave highest importance to some key job competency variables. That is to say, ‘technological thought and act for problem solving’, ‘motivation competence of learners’, ‘responsibility of a decision making, self behavior and judgement’ were found to be more important. ③ Job competency model which was constructed in this study can be effectively used in selecting and organizing technological contents. ④ Further research might follow this study to a more detailed investigation, examining educational needs and yielding more specific data to be applied in developing competency-based teacher education programs.
