At present, the number of low vision students who are attending blind school is 606, which is the 51.2% of total blind students, so they have a lot of difficulties in learning owing to usage 4×6 edition textbooks used by sighted children.
This study, in order to develop large print textbooks based on the reading characteristics of low vision students using print among students of visual impairments.
The subjects of study are primary school students, middle school students and senior high school students. Sights are divided into correction under 0.04 between over 0.04 and under 0.1, and over 0.1. As print types, Gothic type and Ming type are presented and as print sizes, 12, 15, 18, 22 and 26 are presented.
As the methods of this study according to the above subjects, there are three method. One is to study the preferential letter type according to course and vision and another is to study the preferential letter size according to course and vision, and the third is to study the relation between letter size and reading distance.
