(근·현대사) 일제의 침략과정과 관련된 국내외 인물들에 관한 연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 과제의 연구 대상은 일제가 고용한 한국인 밀정으로, 구체적으로는 한국 국내에서 일본군 헌병대가 부대의 기밀비로 고용하여 운용했던 밀정의 실태와 인물상에 대해 검토하였다. 연구 시기는 기본적으로 러일전쟁에서 승리한 일본에 의해 한국 침략이 가속화되는 1906년부터 헌병경찰제도가 시행되고 한국병합이 단행됨으로써 일제의 한국 침략이 일단락되고 새로운 국면으로 전환되는 1910년까지로 설정하였다. 본 연구에서는 특히 밀정을 고용하기 위해 지급된 일본군 헌병대의 기밀비의 내역 분석에 초점을 맞추었다. 구체적으로는 한국에 파견된 일본군 헌병대에 지급된 기밀비가 언제, 어디서, 누구에 의해, 얼마가, 누구에게 어떠한 목적으로 사용되었는지에 대해 그 세목을 상세히 정리하는 작업을 수행하였다. 헌병대 기밀비 총 내역은 주로 일본 방위성 방위연구소에서 수집한 방대한 분량의 당시 비밀보고서들을 분석함으로써 확인할 수 있었으며, 헌병과 밀정의 관계는 일본 국회도서관에서 수집한 헌병대 기관지 및 헌병의 회고록 등에 대한 검토를 통해 확인하였다. 이러한 자료수집 및 목록화, 그리고 정리 작업의 성과를 토대로 시기별 헌병대 기밀비 흐름의 전체상을 그려내고 기밀비와 밀정의 상관관계를 명확히 밝혔으며, 헌병대에 고용되었던 한국인 밀정의 명단 및 행위를 새롭게 추출할 수 있었다.

The purpose of this project is to examine Korean spies hired by the Japanese Empire and investigate in detail the status of those spies hired and operated by the military police of the Japanese army in Korea with its secret service funds and the aspects of those people. The period of this study is basically set as from 1906 when Japan that had won in the Russo-Japanese Wars accelerated its invasion of Korea to 1910 when the merge with Korea was resolutely done and the Japanese Empire’s invasion of Korea ended and a new aspect began. The focus of this study is particularly on analyzing the list of the secret service funds of the Japanese army’s military police used to hire the spies. In detail, this study has arranged the list of the secret service funds paid to the Japanese army’s military police dispatched in Korea regarding when, where, who, how much, to whom, and what purpose they were used. The detailed list of the military police’s secret service funds could be discovered mainly by analyzing a vast amount of secret reports collected then from the research institute of Japan’s defense agency.
