Considering some meaningful arguments of Benjamin, McLuhan, Kittler and Bolz about mass media, this paper firstly examines three essential theorems of aesthetics of media. Then I move to discuss the media-archeological origin of photography and intrinsic properties of its images that were main themes of researchers of photography like S. Freund, B. Newhall, S. Zielinski and P. Geimer. The most impressive character which inheres in the space of an photography can be called propinquity, since every photographically framed space turns out usually to be an acquainted viewing object.
However it is not transparent to human understanding. In other words, its ontological character is very difficult to define because of following three grounds. First the space of a photography shows up not by human sight, but by camera lens and its specific mechanism. Second it represents the absolute moment and the only one short time of so-called ‘once-being’. And third it makes not only visible things much more clear, but reveals also the dimension of ‘the optical-unconscious’.

And then this paper discusses special properties and functional characters of film medium, inquiring into its ability to construct and organize space. Central theorists to whom I primarily refer for this purpose are B. Bálazs, A. Piotrovskij, E. Panofsky and G. Deleuze. In spite of their difference of theoretical position, they have the same opinion that film medium can explore space freely and can make space itself dynamic. And this paper also uses the phenomenological theory of space experience of german philosopher H. Schmitz in order to realize different spatial dimensions that film can express delicately. His distinction of space dimensions that includes ‘expansion-space’, ‘direction-space’, ‘feeling-space’ and ‘location-space’ is very fruitful for this analysis.

In the third part of this paper, I deal with some features and special effects of television. Television can be regarded as the most important spatial medium, because firstly it sends sounds and images away over spatial distances and secondly it exists nowadays at any places where a human being really is or imagines to be. According to oppositive principals of flow and segmentation of moving images, television shows various parts of space simultaneously. Additionally a continuous form of world-image is constructed by jumping over among different channels every new days. It is within bounds to say that the limit of possible experience coincides with that of accessibility of television camera. Of significance is the fact that all of the parts of space becomes an object which can be projected and exhibited outsides at any time. The world is no longer the wholeness of facts, but merely an accidental combination of different potential pieces of mediated space.
