한국문학과 외국문학에 있어서 신화적 주제론과 서사구조 비교연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

1차년도에는 한국문학과 외국문학에 있어서 본질적이고 원형적인 신화소가 고대부터 근세문학에 이르기까지 어떠한 형태로 존재하는지를 신화적 영웅의 탐색 및 성년식의 구조와 관련하여 비교 검토하였다. 한국문학의 경우에는 영웅 서사시 ｢동명왕편』에 나타난 신화적 영웅의 원형을 탐구해 보았다. 영국문학에서는 아더왕 이야기와 로빈후드 이야기에 나온 상반된 영웅들의 모습을 통해 신화적 영웅의 원형을 탐구하였다. 독일문학의 경우에는 독일의 영웅서사시, 『니벨룽겐의 노래(Das Nibelungenlied)』, 『파르치팔 (Parzival)』, 『씸푸리치스무스』라는 서사문학에 등장하는 영웅들을 통해서 신화적 탐색과 입사식의 서사구조가 어떻게 나타나 있는지를 검토하였다. 프랑스문학에서는 무훈시인 ꡔ롤랑의 노래ꡕ에서 신화적 영웅탐색과 입사식의 서사구조를 찾고자 하였고, 러시아문학의 경우에는 러시아의 건국신화와 민간신앙, 그리고 ꡔ브일리나ꡕ의 영웅들인 일리야 무로메쓰, 도브르이냐, 알료샤 뽀뽀비치 같은 용사들의 이야기 속에 보이는 영웅들을 통해서 신화적 영웅탐색과 입사식의 서사구조가 어떠한 형태로 나타나는지를 고찰하였다. 한국문학과 외국문학의 작품에 등장하는 영웅을 통하여 신화적 영웅탐색과 입사식 서사구조의 양상이 어떻게 나타나는지를 종합적으로 그 상이점을 비교, 검토하였다.
2차년도에서 한국문학과 외국문학에 신화적 핵심적 모티프로써 탐색과 죽음과 재생의 모티브가 어떻게 나타나 있는지를 비교 분석하였다. 한국문학과 영국문학의 경우, 이청준의『시간의 문』과 제임스 조이스의 『젊은 예술가의 초상』을 분석의 대상으로 삼아 예술가 소설에 나타난 탐색의 서사 구조를 분석하였다. 한국문학과 독일문학의 경우에서는 이광수의 『무정』, 김성동 『만다라』. 이청준의 『당신들의 천국』과 독일문학 괴테의 『빌헬름 마이스터의 수업시대』, 헤세의 『싯다르타』, 토마스 만의 『마의 산』에 나타난 신화적 서사구조를 교양소설적인 특성과 관련하여 비교 고찰하였다. 그리고 한국 문학과 프랑스 문학의 경우에는 낭만주의 소설로서 발자크의 초기 작품 ꡔ루이 랑베르ꡕ, ꡔ세라피타ꡕ, ꡔ미지의 걸작ꡕ, ꡔ절대의 탐구ꡕ 등과 김동리의 작품에 나타난 죽음과 재생의 모티프를 분석의 대상으로 삼았다. 또한 한국문학과 러시아 문학과 관련하여, 도스토예프스키의 ꡔ지하생활자의 수기ꡕ, 아이뜨마또프의 ꡔ하얀배ꡕ와 이상의 ｢날개｣, 김주영의 ꡔ고기잡이는 갈대를 꺾지 않는다ꡕ를 피카레스크, 성장의 주제와 관련하여 고찰하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

In the first year, we discussed the essential and archetypal mytheme in both Korean and foreign literature from the ancient times through the modern times; in what type this mytheme has existed with the relationship with the quest of mythic heroes and the structure of rites of passage. In the case of Korean literature, we studied the archetypes of mythic heroes in epic narrative, King Dongmyung. In case of British literature, the archetypes of mythic heroes were examined throughout the opposite images of heroes in King Arthur stories and Robin Hood. In case of German literature, we studied how mythic quest and the narrative structure of initiation are revealed throughout the figures of heroes in Das Nibelungenlied, Parzival, and Simplicissimus. In case of French literature, we found out the quest of mythic heroes and the narrative structure of initiation in La Chanson de Roland. In case of Russian literature, we studied how the quest of mythic heroes and the narrative structure of initiation are developed throughout the heroes in the founding mythology and folk mythology, and Bylina, such as, Iliia Muromets, Dobryinia, Alioshia Popvichi. We compared and examined comprehensively how the mythic quest and the narrative structure of initiation are developed both in Korean and foreign narratives.
In the second year, we compared and analyzed how the motif of quest, death and rebirth as the essential mythic motif is revealed in both Korean and foreign literature. In case of Korean and British literature, we analyzed the narrative structure of quest motif in Kuenstlerroman (artist-novel), comparing Lee Chung-jun's The Gate of Time and James Joyce's A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man. In case of Korean and German literature, in view of Bildumsroman, we discussed mythic narrative sturcture in Lee Kwang-su's The Heartless, Kim Sung-dong's Mandara, Lee Chung-jun's Your Heaven, Goethe's Wilhelm Meisters Lehrjahre, Hesse's Siddharthas, Thomas Mann's Zauberburg. In case of Korean and French literature,
we analyzed the motif of death and rebirth in romanticism novels, Balzac's early works, Louis Lanbert, Seraphita, Le chef-d'œuvre inconnu and Kim Dong-ree's works. In case of Korean and Russian literature, we studied growth of characters in Dostovesky's Note of Undergroundman, Aytmatov's Belyi parachod, and Lee Sang's The Wings and Kim Ju-young's The Fisherman Never Breaks Reeds in terms of picaresque novels.
