This study aims to analyze the learning motivation of the students majoring in the foreign language department in the university and to establish an effective method of searching and deepening them. It is important to help establish effective learning strategies and methods for students who do not have the opportunity to meet like the culture of the English-speaking countries or the Chinese. This study focused on the students majoring in the foreign language department in the university. They are struggling to find a career path from language to society, culture and economy. In particular, the main targets are the learning motivation of learners majoring in Russian and Russian culture, the influence of cultural understanding on major learning, and factors influencing motivation, so the results will make it possible to establish effective learning strategy.
In this study, the questionnaires were conducted on 180 Russian majors and 55 Chinese majors in 4 universities in Seoul. Using the KEDI test tool developed by the Korea Educational Development Institute and cultural sensitivity test too, this study analyzed the learning motivation and cultural sensitivity of the language major.
