공적인 분노 표현 행위에 대한 한국어, 영어, 일본어 대조화용적 연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 사람의 기본 감정 중 하나인 분노를 공적인 차원에서 표현하는 공분 표현 화행의 특성에 대해 한국어와 영어 및 일본어의 실제 예를 중심으로 상호 비교 분석하고 있다. 이를 위해 이슬람 무장 세력의 인질 납치와 세월호 침몰 사고, 백인 경찰에 의한 흑인 청년 피살 사건 및 동일본 원전 폭발 사고와 같은 큰 사건에 대한 인터넷에서의 분노 발화 1,349개를 조사하여 그 발화에서 사용된 10가지 분노 실현 전략으로 양적인 분석을 시도하고 있다. 또한 양적 분석 결과를 토대로 분노 표현의 충동성과 집중성, 명시성이라는 질적 특성에 대해서 세 언어를 대조하여 분석하고 기존의 감정 표현성에 대한 문화심리적 가설들에 대해 비판적으로 검토하고 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study explores how the emotion of anger is expressed in social contexts in three different languages: Korean, English and Japanese. The study focuses on the ways of verbalizing indignation by the speakers of each language about such an international issue as Islamic militants’ threatening to kill their hostages, and about a domestic issue such as the Ferry Disaster in Korea, the nuclear power plant melt-down in Japan and the shooting of a black man by a police officer in Ferguson, Missouri. These incidents attracted nationwide attention in each country, generating a vigorous debate and a storm of emotional reactions. A total of 1,349 expressions are collected from the Internet responses to the video clips posted on YouTube. They are analyzed in terms of ten ‘anger realization strategies’ identified in the data: 1) insulting, 2) swearing, 3) cursing, 4) accusing, 5) threatening, 6) explaining, 7) asserting, 8) commiserating, 9) deploring, and 10) self-blaming. These strategies are further investigated in connection with the distinction of ‘Anger-out’, ‘Anger-in’ and ‘Anger-control’ (Averill, 1982).
