표준국악음계를 위한 피치연구와 활용

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The melodies of our traditional music were always mysteries. Apparently they are similar to the melodies by Western equal temperament, but they contain something different. Over the analysis of the traditional music tunes of traditional music melodies it was found that the pitches are not significantly deviated from the equal temperament. The cause why we feel pitches go up or down a little was investigated. It is due to the structure of overtones of Korean traditional music instruments. For example, Korean traditional instruments generate partial tones and the stronger upper harmonics than the fundamental does. Unlike Western natural overtones, it was discovered that the mysterious sounding comes from the combination of a number of partial tones and the strong upper overtones.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

우리 국악의 선율은 늘 신비하게 들린다. 서양의 평균율 악기의 피치와 비슷하지만 뭔가 조금 다른 것이 있다. 국악 선율의 분석을 거듭하다가보니 국악 선율의 피치는 평균율을 크게 벗어나지 않는 것이 발견되었다. 그렇다면 왜 피치가 조금 올라가거나 내려가는 느낌이 드는 것인지 그 원인을 파악하였다. 그 결과는 국악 악기의 배음 구조 때문이었다. 국악기의 경우 줄의 재질과 관의 형태 때문에 파샬음들이 많이 발생하고 있으며 또 기본음보다 위쪽의 배음들이 상당히 크게 소리를 내고 있다. 즉 서양악기들의 고른 배음들과 달리 수많은 파샬음들과 함께 강하게 소리 나는 위쪽 배음들이 기본음과 합쳐져 기묘한 소리를 내는 것이 연구 결과로 밝혀졌다.
