Title of research: Gaze-based HCI for attentive Interaction
Goal: To develop attentive model on gaze based interaction and to enhance a system based on attention in a user.
RESEARCH OBJECTIVES
1. To develop attentive model on gaze-based interaction.
2. To develop a filtering model to filter the unwanted fixation in gaze.
3. To enhance the interaction of a system based on attention in a user.
Present day Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) revolves around typing at keyboard, pointing with a mouse, selecting from menus and to certain extends, using other common devices. These interfaces are far from ideal, especially when dealing with graphical input and trying to visualize and manipulate three-dimensional data structures.
Interacting with computers can be a cumbersome and frustrating experience. Natural ways of interaction such as closer to face-to-face, human-to-human conversation, gesturing, hearing and seeing are part of the interaction. Therefore, research in this area would bridge the interaction gap between human and improve on “look and feel” of the computer.
This research focuses gaze-based interaction for human-computer interaction and access to the attentive system. It will enable the possibility to conceive more radical changes in the way we interact with machines. The intended focus of the research is to develop the user’s behavior based on the attention and interact well with the system. Artificial Intelligence will also be a focus of the research.
Eye gaze will also offer an exciting and more natural way of communicating with computers and machines. Several areas of research needed i.e. understanding the behavior of our sight, gaze based interaction, tracking the movement and capturing the users would be a focus research area in terms of interacting between human and machine.
