Recently digital technology is widely spread in the number of features and electroacoustic functions that can be incorporated into a new era for practical hearing aid design. However the fitting methods for digital hearing aids are different from those of analog hearing aids. Also fitting methods for digital hearing aids require different formula and fitting chamber for digital hearing aids. The purpose of this study was to compare;(a) what are the different electroacoustic characteristics, (b) how much different gains in each frequencies of digital hearing aids between in analog and digital fitting system, and (c) what are the different speech discrimination score between t재 tests-pre test was speech discrimination score with digital hearing aids which were fitted in digital fitting system, and post test was speech discrimination score with digital hearing aids were fitted in analog fitting system and changed gains in each frequencies. This study concluded that: (a) the digital hearing aids indicated lower output in maximum SSPL90 and high frequency average SSPL 90 than those of analog hearing aids. However, the digital hearing aids indicated higher output in frequency average full on gain(HFA FOG) than those of analog hearing aids; (b) digital hearing aids were emphasized at 4000Hz when the effective gain numbers in each frequencies were determined, however, analog hearing aids were concentrated at 1000Hz, and the effective gain numbers for digital hearing aids cannot fit and determine with analog system with NAL formula; and (c) there are no different speech discrimination scores in two test conditions which one is tested with digital hearing aids to be fitted in digital fitting system, and the other one is tested with digital hearing aids to be fitted in analog fitting system and changed the gains in each frequencies. Therefore, this study suggested that when digital hearing aids are operated with analog system with NAL formula, the gain numbers have to controled for effective use.
