The comprehensive countermeasures to reduce the road traffic noise were classified into two groups such as the countermeasures in the sound propagation path and in the receiving place. The main purpose of this study is suggest the noise reduction methods by noise barrier through the field and full-scaled experimental measurement. The main results in this study are summarized as follows : 1) Design method of the exposed building to the road and arrangement method of the housing complex 2) Suggestion on the two improved design models of noise barrier →Applying the two improved design models (Diffuse and Disperse type noise barrier [photo 5.1], [photo 5.2]) as a alteration on (Aluminum) noise barrier of absorbing type - The same acoustic performance (the reduction effects of reflected sound) in comparision with the noise barrier of absorbing type - 10% cost-down in comparision with noise barrier of absorbing type (in case of 4m height barrier) - Improving the scene in surroundings of the housing complex 3) Suggestion on the design and construction manual of noise barrier (ref, chapter 6) - Proposal to apply this manual to the standard specification and design criteria of civil construction in KNHC - Proposal to apply this manual to the construction guide lines of noise barrier in the Ministry of Environment 4) Suggestion on the improved guide of structural design of noise barrier ① The specifcation of wind velocity - Present : 45 in/sec - Alteration Different wind velocity in according to the region ② Construction method of foundation - Present Concrete foundation (fig. 6.7) - Alternation Steel pile foundation (fig. 6.8) → Effect of cost-down (68% in comparision with the concrete foundation) 5) Proposal to revise the construction manual of noise barrier ① The acoustic performance of noise barrier ② Wind velocity in structural design of noise barrier : The same wind velocity with that of ① term, 4) clause
