지구화 시대의 자경주의: 인도네시아 자경주의의 근원과 지구화 시대의 정체성의 정치

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목표는 크게 두 가지이다. 첫째, 이제까지 주로 특정사회의 사회문화적 맥락과 역사적 특수성 속에서만 연구되어 왔던 자경주의 연구의 지평을 로컬과 국가는 물론 지구적 수준으로까지 확장시켜 지구화시대의 폭력의 문제가 발생하는 경로 및 정당화 과정을 이해하고자 하였다. 그리고 그럼으로써 둘째, 폭력을 통해 제안되는, '바람직한 질서'에 관한 로컬의 실천적 담론들이 로컬의 사회문화에 대하여 지니는 함의와 정체성의 정치 과정으로서 보여주는 역동성을 이해하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 기존 인도네시아의 자경주의적 실천 관행들의 사회문화적 맥락과 특징들을 살펴보고, 이어서 자바, 발리, 롬복, 길리 트라왕안의 자경주의 사례 비교연구를 통해 지구화 시대 로컬의 정체성의 정치를 조직하는 문화관행으로서 자경주의의 새로운 국면들을 탐구하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This research has two aims. First, by expanding the demension of understanding vigilantism to the global level, not only being tied to the level of local society and the state in the context of socio-cultural and historical peculiarities, the researcher wants to discuss the changing paths of vigilante violence and ways of justification for such violence in the era of globalization. Second, thus, this research wants to understand the socio-cultural meaning and the dynamics in the politics of identity, which embedded in the practical discourses about 'desired order'. To that end, this research reviews the socio-cultural context and the peculiarities of the vigilantism in Indonesia. Furthermore, a comparative study has been done on the case of vigilantism in Java, Bali, Lombok and Gili Trawangan, which in sum discusses vigilantism as a cultural practice which organizes local politics of identity in the era of globalization.
